    The Nursing Instructor/Skills Lab Coordinator of the Clinical Skills Lab has an overall responsibility for the coordination of all clinical lab activities. Additionally, the Instructor is responsible for both classroom and clinical instruction. This includes but is not limited to classroom presentations, giving and grading examinations, advising students in academic choices, supervising clinical experiences, planning and participating in lab and simulation, and evaluating students using tools specific to nursing. The Nursing Instructor/Skills Lab Coordinator position is a 9-month faculty position reporting to the Director of Nursing in the Northwest School of Nursing.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Master of Science Degree in Nursing
    • Two years of Nursing experience
    • At least one year of clinical experience
    • Teaching experience desirable
    • Unencumbered license to practice in Mississippi
    • Acceptable criminal history background check
    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The Clinical Skills Lab Coordinator duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

    1. Coordinate activities of the laboratory to meet the learning needs of students.
    2. Coordinate the activities for Career Day.
    3. Order laboratory supplies and equipment.
    4. Seeks assistance from the appropriate personnel to maintain equipment in working order.
    5. Establish, with the approval of the Director, the policies, and procedures for the laboratory.
    6. Function as the advisor for the NWCC chapter of the Student Nurses Association.
    7. Maintain security of nursing labs.
    8. Seek and maintain continuing education appropriate for laboratory/simulation instruction.
    9. Collaborate with Simulation Specialist to conduct simulation scenarios for all nursing courses.
    10. Assist nursing faculty in planning and participating in appropriate lab experiences.
    11. Help students to develop clinical decision making and procedural skills.
