Pay Range
Full-time position to work closely with Director of Med Surg, Emergency and Extended Care Services to support the practice of nursing by ensuring consistency in the standard of practice across the clinical setting. Supports and facilitates an interdisciplinary team approach to the delivery of care. Provides guidance and support in creating a nursing environment in which collation is valued and excellence in clinical care, education, financial stability and retention of staff is promoted and achieved. Supervises and guides the functions of the surgery, emergency department, acute and extended care units at Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center (SPRHC).
On call as needed.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required. Minimum of two years work experience in direct nursing care is required. One year of supervisory experience is preferred.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
• Promotes the mission, vision and values of SPRHC.
• Assists with the utilization of Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Regulations and Guidelines (CMS), establishes and maintains an active quality improvement plan and participants in infection control programs including attending regularly scheduled meetings.
• As directed, provides supervision to direct and evaluate assigned staff members through prescribed procedures, including case management and utilization review.
• Assures that all nursing services are provided in compliance with all applicable standards and requirements of federal, state and local rules and regulations.
• Within assigned work team, assumes responsibility for proactively identifying and resolving customer problems and requests for assistance.
• As assigned, organizes workflow and prepares schedules, reviews and approves payroll including time sheets and leave time.
• Assists with the preparation of short-term and long-range management plans; evaluates and determines proficiency level of the unit(s) activities and personnel.
• Provides instruction and direction of staff members regarding proper procedures and protocols of units, review all work products for compliance with standards, policies and procedures.
• Assists with the scheduling, coordination and tracking of attendance of all training, in-service and education for personnel.
• Complete necessary processes for selection of new personnel.
• Supports team objectives focusing on team results, handling conflict in a positive manner, sharing information and resources and listening effectively to team members while assuming responsibility for personal contributions.
• Establishes and maintains positive relationships with all customers/patients by ensuring daily rounding is completed to build relationships.
• Ensure the consideration of the role of cultural, social and behavioral factors in the accessibility, availability, acceptability and delivery of unit information and services.
• Assess ever-changing processes and healthcare standard regulations to ensure effective and appropriate care standards are up-to-date through education opportunities.
• Ensure all required licensing, certification and/or education requirements for assigned staff members are completed and up-to-date.
• Exhibits positive communication methods; conducts regular staff meetings to ensure dissemination of relevant work-related information is communicated.
• May be assigned to work one-on-one with nursing staff as needed to enhance the delivery of patient care.
• Evaluate unit needs and equipment demands for proper and safe usage of equipment; call for service/initiate service process for repair or replacement.
