The energy industry is undergoing rapid and dramatic changes, increasing the deployment of renewable energy sources to offset the combustion of fossil fuels and the production of greenhouse gasses. These changes, combined with the risks posed by climate change and aging infrastructure, require an array of dynamic and innovative solutions to deliver resilient utility services. In response, Jacobs is expanding our Energy & Power team to tackle the complexities of decarbonization to deliver a cleaner and more secure energy future.
There is an upward trending pressure on the renewables industry to provide reliable baseload power. Jacobs has assessed that the geothermal market in North America has an emerging surge of interest across geothermal power generation, direct use for process industries, district heating and ground source heat pump technologies driven by decarbonization of almost all sectors.
The North America Geothermal Sales and Delivery Professional role will require experience and strong personal networks within the geothermal industry to support our North American Geothermal team with business development activities and project delivery. Responsibilities to include:
Market Strategy and Analysis
Coordinate with Jacobs' global geothermal team and leadership on business strategy to increase the size of the geothermal business in North America and beyond.
Strategy should be inclusive of:
Geothermal subsurface and surface projects
Thermal energy networks
Cross market applications - developing geothermal project opportunities for clients across other market sectors (aviation, federal, data centers, etc.)
Sales and Marketing
Industry engagement
Promote Jacobs' North America Geothermal team capabilities amongst personal client network
Conference planning, strategizing, attendance, and coordination
Client development and relationship management (Opening Game)
Opportunity development (Middle Game)
Opportunity capture and proposal management (End Game)
Bring existing knowledge of market sectors, clients, technology solutions and projects to help shape proposals in response to RFP sponsored by clients. Develop scope and methodology.
Identify opportunities and support team to prepare unsolicited proposals to clients.
Internal sales and market to support cross market strategy.
Delivery
Project Management
Master and adhere to Jacobs' best practices for project management
Partner with Jacobs' contract managers to negotiate contracts for professional services with clients and subconsultants
Partner with technical staff to develop project pricing, risk analysis and mitigation plans, manhour estimates and work plans.
Oversee production work to ensure that Jacobs' delivery team manages quality, adheres to client schedule and meets or exceeds client expectations
Manage changes in scope by negotiating corresponding changes to schedule and compensation as appropriate
Monitor design budget and maintain accountability for margin delivery to business
Strategic consulting for geothermal clients and opportunities
Shaping opportunities
Sharing project knowledge and general experience to support clients as they develop or refine their opportunities through initial phase studies.
Geothermal technical consulting on projects
Advisory on contracting strategies for power plant delivery
Take on leading technical roles in due diligence and strategic consulting assignments.
High-level Review of key project documents.
Bachelor's or Master's Degree
15+ years of experience in the geothermal industry
Proven ability to engage with clients, develop relationships, win work, and then deliver innovative solutions providing value to both the client and provider.
Demonstrated ability for higher level strategic, concept, and development planning for new geothermal resource opportunities, including knowledge and application of new and emerging technologies
Strong communication and technical writing skills
