    Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

    $23.500 - $28.081 - $32.662

    This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with SEIU-UHW. As part of the terms of employment, employees in this role are required to join the union within 31 days of hire and remain a member (e.g. dues paying, fee paying, religious exception contributor) for the duration of the collective bargaining agreement.

    What You Will Do

    Under supervision of Director, employee performs newborn hearing screening exams. Completes data entry, maintains equipment, orders supplies and paperwork related to the newborn hearing-screening program. Provides for appropriate communication of hearing screening results and follow-up scheduling of outpatient appointments per hearing screening results.

    Required Qualifications

    • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent

    • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED

    Preferred Qualifications

    • 1 Year Experience in an acute care hospital

    • California Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) - CA Department of Public Health -PREFERRED

    Essential Functions

    • Completes hearing screening examsCompletes initial and annual Hearing Screening competency per hospital policy and CCS guidelines.Demonstrates ability to operate hearing-screening equipment accurately according to manufacturer guidelines.Completes patient hearing screening and re-screening exams as appropriate ensuring a valid test result.Notifies appropriate personnel of defective equipment and proactively arranges to borrow or rent replacement equipment.

    • Data collection and reportingDocuments completely and accurately hearing screening results per hospital policy and CCS guidelines (reporting software, forms, etc.)Notifies per hospital policy nursing staff, the primary care provider (PCP), Neonatologist, and/or the Neonatal Nurse Practioner, of hearing screening results, educational needs, outpatient appointments and any other pertinent information.Collects and reports hearing screening results, patient logs, and any additional information as required by hospital policy and CCS guidelines.

    • Department servicesCommunicates patient orders to other departments via electronic information system.Uses computer systems efficiently for all data entry and retrieval of patient specific information and statistics.Transcribes medical record information related to newborn hearing screening accurately and timely.Utilizes phone systems to efficiently coordinate patient scheduling or other patient activities.

    • Patient equipment and suppliesArranges for calibration of hearing screening equipment as indicated in operator's manual.Communicates to Material Specialist immediately any concerns or issues regarding equipment operation or maintenance requirement.Orders forms and hearing screening supplies in accordance with patient volume.Maintains adequate numbers of educational materials per patient volume.Restocks work area with supplies upon delivery.

    • Plan of careCollaborates in development of patient's plan of care by communicating test results, interpretation, and follow-up recommendations.Notifies appropriate PCP, Neonatologist, and/or the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner of hearing screening results and interpretation indicating need for further education or re-assessment.Schedules outpatient screening exams or diagnostic examinations as indicated per hospital policy and CCS guidelines.Documents plan of care on medical record .

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Knowledge of basic medical terminology with good computer skills.

    • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
