This position serves our partners at the Minnesota Department of Commerce (COMM). MNIT Commerce staff support energy and telecom regulation and permitting, bank and insurance regulation, and work on regulatory issues around Minnesota's energy sector. The MNIT Commerce team also supports the Public Utilities Commission and Boards.

As the Network Technical Lead, you would coordinate and lead the day-to-day technical activities associated with all of the components of Commerce's network infrastructure and systems. The individual in this position is considered the highest level technical source within the network team and must have expert training and experience in multiple technologies. This individual is the Commerce Enterprise Technical team leader and leads and advises team members in the networking, middleware and server groups and serves as the advanced project manager on network infrastructure related projects, managing both internal team members as well as contracted engineers for project work.

This position is temporary and includes full state fringe benefits; it is anticipated to last eighteen (18) months.

This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:

• Telework (~~~) for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St. Paul, Minnesota.

• Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.

Minimum Qualifications

Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of IT related experience in providing a solid Microsoft Server, Active Directory, Storage and Backup foundation.

Experience must include

• Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.

• Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.

• Current and emerging version of Microsoft Server Operating Systems and Active Directory

• Windows Desktop operating systems, current and emerging versions

• Current and emerging VMware

• Security best practices

• User desktop support best practices

A master's degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor's degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate's degree substitutes for one (1) year.

Preferred Qualifications

• Software License Management experience

• Experience using Azure Cloud

• Project Management experience
