    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Summary

    Assembles wooden frames according to quality and quantity requirements. The builder obtains and inspects individual pieces of wood from storage area, positions different lumber pieces per specification, and then nails lumber together with an air driven nailing gun.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    Obtains and inspects pieces of wood to be used for frame build process. 

    Turns, grasps board(s,) and places boards in holding fixture. Repeats the motions for the boards required to complete the frame. 

    Picks up air driven nailing gun (approximately 10 lbs. In weight) with one hand, and nails boards together while walking around the table and while using the other hand to make final positioning of the boards. 

    Inspects assembled frames for structural defects, and repairs as needed. 

    Picks up frame, carries and stacks on finished frame pile. 

    Cuts steel bands around bundle of lumber. 

    Reload nail gun as needed and changes locators on table to accommodate different size frames. 

    Moves carts of finished frames to appropriate areas. 

    Performs all related duties of the frame build function according to established safety and efficiency procedures. 

    Maintains workstation in a neat, clean and orderly fashion. 

    Operates band saw to cut lumber for special sizes as needed. 

    Performs functions in other areas of the Plant as requested. 

    Performs related duties as assigned. 

    Functional/Technical Competencies

    Experience/Education

    Desired

    Prior experience working for a bedding manufacturer. 

    Initial training period is approximately 2 weeks; requires ability to reach minimum 125% efficiency on consistent basis after 30 calendar days of service. 

    Required

    Basic ability to read, write and understand English. 

    Basic ability to read/use ruler, add subtract and calculate fractions. 

    Must be at least 18 years of age 

    Basic mathematical skills. 

    Good eye/hand coordination. 

    Good organizational skills. 

    Job Factors/Work Environments

    The job is highly repetitious and involves regular lifting of materials (up to 50 lbs) on a regular basis. Work also involves exposure to usual hazards found in a manufacturing environment. Use of earplugs and safety glasses are required.
