    A.T. Still University's Missouri School of Dentistry and Oral Health (ATSU-MOSDOH) is seeking a full-time exempt Associate Dean, Academic Affairs. This position will oversee the planning, development, and implementation of the four-year pre-doctoral curriculum while contributing to the creation of postdoctoral dental programs. The Associate Dean will also manage and submit all required CODA documentation and support MOSDOH priorities, focusing on communication (active listening, transparency, and messaging) and team building (leadership, engagement, and collegiality).

    Major Job Duties

    • Leadership Role:

    • Serve as a mentor for faculty, students, and staff and promote team building across MOSDOH.

    • Consult with the Dean on operational procedures, policies, and challenges.

    • Promote organizational structure and integrity.

    • Lead the annual commencement events.

    • Serve on ATSU committees.

    • Support and promote institutional effectiveness and MOSDOH's strategic plan.

    • Support the Dean in all leadership roles within MOSDOH and ATSU.

    • Predoctoral Curriculum:

    • Lead the planning, development, and implementation of the integrated human systems, pre-clinical and clinical curricula components of the pre-doctoral curriculum.

    • Identify deficiencies, inappropriate overlap, and inconsistencies in the curriculum and effect appropriate corrections.

    • Assure integration of public health and community dentistry principles across the curriculum including coordination with the ATSU/CGHS certificate in Dental Public Health.

    • Enhance the quality of the MOSDOH curricula in coordination with internal and external partners.

    • Report curricular activities to the Dean's Council and/or the Dean, as appropriate.

    • Assure course management including course sequencing, course scheduling, syllabi approval and distribution, student assessment, approval and monitoring of course module grades, and instructor, course, and curricular assessment.

    • Promote the use of sound educational methodology in teaching, learning, and assessment.

    • Manage program accreditation through CODA for the pre-doctoral and developing specialty programs.

    • Support and promote student success and academic progress.

    • Assure curricular development and integrity of the post-doctoral programs approved by the Board of Trustees.

    • Oversee annual student recruitment and admissions process.

    • Advise school leadership on academic issues.

    • Advise school leadership on strategic and long-range planning.

    • Assist and support the development of major MOSDOH assessment efforts.

    • Chair the Curriculum Committee in accordance with the charges of the Committee as defined by the Dean. Appoint subcommittees and ad-hoc committees of the Curriculum Committee. Ensure minutes are taken and maintained.

    • Develop and implement the predoctoral dental school curriculum.

    • Draft course goals.

    • Assure review, approval, distribution, and reassessment of course syllabi.

    • Collaborate to track student attainment of competency prior to graduation utilizing sound/generally acceptable assessment criteria.

    • Collaborate in efforts to improve the assessment of students in relationship to the predoctoral competencies.

    • Collaborate with school curriculum leadership on curriculum development and problem-solving.

    • Make recommendations for course faculty hiring and dismissal. Assure the course/program/specialty directors secure qualified faculty to implement the curriculum and utilize appropriate policies and procedures in doing so.

    • Assure MOSDOH participation in University-wide curriculum foci (e.g., Geriatrics, IPE, etc.).

    • Participate in the University-wide calendar committee.

    • Manage accreditation documentation including self-study and subsequent reporting requirements for all MOSDOH programs.

    • Manage new CODA program applications.

    • Determine the efficacy of new program development.

    • Manage the completion of all academic surveys, including CODA and ADEA.

    • Advise the ATSU Technical Standards and Accommodations Committee. Serve as the Disability Services Accessibility Liaison for MOSDOH.

    • Chair Academic Progress Committee.

    • Officially report academic course registration, grades, and other required information to the ATSU Office of the Registrar.

    • In conjunction with the Director, Academic Services and Support, monitor student academic performance including grades, GPAs, and ethics.

    • Meet with student leadership on a regular basis.

    • Advise instructors and school leadership on the use of sound educational methodology in instructor teaching, learning, and assessment through faculty development sessions and faculty retreats.

    • Serve on MOSDOH's Dean's Council.

    • Assure promotion of cultural proficiency and inclusion in the curriculum and admissions process.

    • Attend and advise all other committees as assigned by the Dean.

    • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Dean.

    Education/Experience

    • DDS, DMD, BDS, or equivalent degree and experience.

    • Dentistry.

    • Higher Education.

    • Higher Education Administration.

    • Assessment.

    • Accreditation processes and protocol.

    • Academic leadership with an emphasis on public health.

    • Over 10 years of experience preferred.

    • Programmatic and institutional accreditation.
