Job Description

We are seeking a Mechanical Drafter responsible for generating detailed drawings for our major product - the electrical slip ring, which transmits continuous power and electrical signals from a stationary to a rotating structure. The role involves gathering necessary information such as measurements, specifications, and additional data from inspection and engineering departments, creating drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks, updating engineering data within the company's ERP system, and making necessary changes to existing drawings using AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Generate detailed drawings for electrical slip rings.

• Gather information from inspection and engineering departments.

• Create drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks.

• Make necessary changes to existing drawings using AutoCAD.

• Periodically update engineering data within the company's ERP system.

• Use company standards as guidelines for drafting and documentation.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

• 3D modeling/design in SolidWorks.

• Experience designing mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies.

• Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD is a plus.

• Proficient computer skills, including Word and Excel, Internet.

• Strong knowledge of drafting principles and practices.

• Familiarity with technical writing and documentation standards.

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in creating technical drawings.

• Strong problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently or in a team environment.

• Good communication skills to effectively collaborate with engineers, designers, and other stakeholders.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Drafting, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (Preferred, but not necessary).

Work Environment

The company values a laid-back atmosphere with expectations for maturity and honest work. The company is not a high production facility, typically working on 4-5 complex projects per year. Most projects involve military contracting and working with Fortune 500 companies and government entities. The company has a low turnover rate and encourages long-term career growth. The team has grown significantly, from 30 to 100 people, reflecting a 15% annual growth rate.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $28.46
