Job Description

The Mechanic will be responsible for working on over 100 pieces of equipment, including power sweepers, pressure washers, and salt spreaders. This role involves regular planned maintenance, urgent repairs, and project-based equipment rebuilds.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all company equipment on a day-to-day basis across two shops.

• Perform a variety of tasks including preventive maintenance and urgent repairs.

• Handle truck rebuilds, including street sweepers, water trucks, hydro excavators, and small engine repairs.

• Conduct seasonal tasks such as snow clearing and street sweeping.

• Engage in both project work and preventive maintenance, ensuring a variety of work.

• Tackle equipment breakdowns and perform general maintenance and repairs.

• Adapt to varying work tasks and shift gears easily.

• Service and clean dirty equipment.

• Work on a range of equipment from small engines to large trucks, including sweepers, vacuum trucks, and light vehicles.

• Learn and perform beyond basic tasks, providing a diverse learning experience for apprentices.

Essential Skills

• Red Seal CT Mechanic or Red Seal HD Mechanic certification.

• 5+ years of experience as a Mechanic.

• Valid BC driver's license.

• Proficiency in mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance.

• Ability to handle hydraulic systems and repairs.

• Electrical troubleshooting skills.

• Experience with diesel engines and repairs.

• Own basic mechanic's tools.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Welding and fabrication experience.

• Hydraulic experience.

• Electrical experience.

• Propane conversion experience.

Work Environment

The company operates two shops providing services throughout the lower mainland 24/7, 365 days a year. The work involves a diverse range of tasks including power sweeping, scrubbing, pressure washing, line painting, and more. Mechanics must be comfortable with a dynamic and often dirty work environment, using their own basic tools. The company supports ongoing training and professional development, especially for apprentices working towards their Red Seal Ticket. The work environment includes a 3-bay door shop and a commitment to maintaining a high standard of service.

This is a Permanent position based out of Surrey, British Columbia.
