    Mechanic A ( HVAC )-Mount Sinai Hospital

    The Mechanic A (HVAC) evaluates, diagnoses, and performs basic repair and planned maintenance (PM) on medical facility-related systems and equipment, with an emphasis on HVAC Systems maintenance. The Mechanic A drives customer satisfaction through Service Excellence and maintains excellent customer relations through clear, concise, and continuous communications.

    Qualifications

    Requirements:

    • High School Diploma/GED required.

    • Associates degree in electronic technology or mechanical principles highly desirable.

    • 1 year basic or mechanical repair experience

    Compensation Statement

    The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $34.05 - $34.59 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.

    Responsibilities

    • Monitors HVAC system performance via computer (BMS) system and make adjustments as required.

    • Evaluates basic operational and controls issues for all HVAC equipment. Takes proactive steps to keep all systems operating within the desired/established parameters

    • Works with others or alone in the troubleshooting and repair of HVAC equipment as required.

    • Performs planned maintenance (PM) as assigned, including control system calibrations, the maintenance of fan drive systems, heating and cooling coils, condensate removal systems, etc.

    • Performs safety and environmental inspections as assigned.

    • Wears pager and or carries walkie-talkie or cell phone furnished by Hospital and responds promptly to all requests initiated by the Supervisor or Work Control.

    • Follows appropriate hospital policies, procedures and protocols, and completes necessary documentation as assigned. Documents work in detail as specified by management to ensure that an accurate history of maintenance and repair can be maintained.

    • Makes decisions based on clear instructions and operational rules and procedures, and escalates problems with equipment or systems to management as appropriate.

    • Ensures proper care and use of spare parts, tools and test equipment.

    • Maintains technical knowledge of current standards, codes and procedures regarding safe and effective use of medical or engineering equipment through formal instruction.
