    Job Description

    Amentum is immediately hiring qualified Aircraft Mechanic 3's in support of U.S. Navy Aviation maintenance operations at NAS Oceana Virginia Beach, VA. VFA-106.

    The Aircraft Mechanic 3 must have knowledge of the F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet aircraft and the ability to communicate with other aircraft mechanics across a wide variety of skillsets to include Power Plants, Airframe\Hydraulic Systems, Avionics, ALSS, Electrical and Navigation Systems, Environmental Control Systems, Corrosion, and Line Division Operations.

    In addition, the candidate will release aircraft Safe for Flight. It will be the responsibility of the Mech III to be able to efficiently attain the objectives and manage all actions to retain materials in a serviceable condition or restore it to serviceability. Candidate must be able to manage scheduled and unscheduled maintenance in order to meet demanding op-tempo to include daily flight schedule and detachments to remote locations.

    A detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers, etc. is required.

    Candidate will be required to perform duties within the established procedures of the Performance Work Statement. An Aircraft Maintenance Mechanic in this position will ensure all priorities are passed to the maintenance team, set project\priority of parts and procurement of repairable\non-repairable assemblies.

    As a Mech III you will be required to act in a role of Shift Supervisor, must be able to apply technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as schematics, flow charts, and manufactures' manuals. Inspect and make entries into aircraft logbooks to ensure all technical data, and ensure that all work is complete in accordance with maintenance manual, maintenance requirement card, and maintenance instruction to include the Naval Aviation Maintenance Programs prior to releasing aircraft Safe for Flight.

    Additional information:

    Inspect and maintain all company and customer assets, including all assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), in accordance with applicable directives, and ensure that those assets are utilized in a safe, effective and efficient manner.

    Participate in the training and qualification of new personnel.

    Promote communication to enhance and encourage employee awareness of accident prevention, quality of work, and environmental compliance.

    Promote positive communication with all site departments, company management, and our customers to ensure the proper execution of our contract.

    Participate in required daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual training and ensure that it is documented in a timely manner.

    Will be required to pass and maintain a U.S. Government background security check as well as favorable fingerprints in EQIP. May be required to complete a SF-85/86 in EQIP as required to maintain possession of a CAC card. Unfavorable background check may result in termination if determination is made you are not eligible for a CAC card.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Shift work required, detachments are possible.

    • High School graduate or equivalent.

    • Must have completed Navy Aviation Maintenance Control Management for Optimized Organizational Maintenance Activity (OOMA).

    • Must have seven (7) years Maintenance / Production Control Experience with 3 years actual and recent F/A-18 E/F/G O-level Safe for Flight experience.

    • Must have completed the following: F/A-18 Supervisor FAM C-600-3867; Naval Aviation Quality Assurance (QA) Admin C-555-0046.

    • Must have a valid Virginia or North Carolina Driver license (if North Carolina resident)

    • Knowledge and use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks is mandatory. supervision.

    • Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks.

    • There is a great deal of standing, climbing, bending and stooping. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

    • Ability to read and interpret technical publications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

    • Must be able to obtain an approved status from the Contractor Verification system which includes a 7 year background check and obtain a Security Clearance for Public Trust

    • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
