    JOB PURPOSE :

    A Material Handler performs duties in shipping, receiving, inventory control and cycle counting programs to support production schedules and customer requirements.

    JOB STRUCTURE & COMMUNICATIONS :

    The Material Handler reports to the Production Control Supervisor and has no direct reports.

    ACCOUNTABILITIES :

    • Use material handling equipment to carefully move components manufactured from a variety of stainless steel and nickel alloys to their next operation.

    • Maintains inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock, recording location of inventory.

    • Locates materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on production orders.

    • Maintains in-process inventory at work centers by delivering and opening materials and supplies.

    • Documents materials and supplies disposition by recording units delivered and location of units.

    • Prepares finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing product.

    • Documents product shipment by recording units shipped.

    • Maintains material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections; making operator repairs.

    • Empty chip conveyors and bins.

    Administration :

    • Follow all company policies and health and safety procedures.

    • Promote various safety initiatives and demonstrates a "safety first" mindset.

    • Wears appropriate personal protective equipment at all times when required

    • Report any personal workplace injuries to direct supervisor immediately.

    • Report safety issues to direct supervisor as soon as possible.

    • Maintains an acceptable level of performance by following established policies and procedures and participating in continuous improvement efforts by supporting and implementing new ideas.

    • Sets a positive example by maintaining a respective attitude, cooperating with co-workers, management, and internal and external customers.

    • Be a productive team member and help to meet established departmental and Company goals.

    • Report to work for your regularly scheduled shifts on time and ready to work.

    • Effectively gives and receives feedback and willingly asks questions and seeks direction when needed.

    • May work any and all shifts/days as required.

    • Willingly accepts responsibility of sharing skills and knowledge with other employees.

    • Perform all other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

    KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

    • High school diploma or equivalent education required.

    • 2 years' experience working as a material handler in a manufacturing environment.

    • Two years of experience carefully handling precision machined components using motorized carts, forklifts, and overhead cranes.

    • Attention to detail and organization.

    • Demonstrable ability as an adaptable team player with strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

    • Strong ability to work independently to complete assignments promptly while maintaining the high standards required in our industry.

    • Certified forklift and crane training an asset.

    The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $43,000 and $62,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
