    Manager, Long-Term Demand Forecasting

    The GPS Analytics (Global Product Development and Supply Analytics) team, part of Business Insights & Technology (BI&T), partners with the GPS organization to answer key business questions that drive business strategy using advanced data analytics and data science.

    The manager, Long-Term Demand Forecasting is a technical expert responsible for the delivery of long-term demand forecasts for all BMS products, inclusive of commercial and non-commercial demands. The manager will be responsible for contributing to advancing the analytical tools, data science capabilities, and analytical business insights related to long-term demand forecasting for commercial and non-commercial demand for all products, including assets currently in clinical and pre-clinical development (the pipeline). The manager will work with the Associate Director, Long-Term Demand Forecasting to manage the forecasting process, delivering the long-term demand forecast to GPS on a bi-yearly basis. Furthermore, the manager will work with Worldwide Commercialization Analytics to use the long-term financial plan forecasts to inform long-term demand forecasts for all brands. A successful individual in this role will be able to manage multiple demand forecasts, including machine-learning, statistical, and quantitative models, as well as develop and maintain an automated forecasting process using best practices for model development, ML Ops, demand forecasting, and business insights reporting.

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Drive the development of new methods for long-term demand forecasting for all products, inclusive of commercial and non-commercial demand.

    • Develop new analytical tools and data science capabilities for the delivery of automated long-term demand forecast for the enterprise.

    • Responsible for the end-to-end data pipeline for long-term demand forecasting

    • Manage and monitor performance of long-term demand forecasts across all BMS products and pipeline

    • Identify and implement internal and external data sets to sustain and/or improve forecast accuracy

    • Develop the statistical, machine learning, deep learning and/or quantitative forecasting methods to drive efficient, automated forecasting processes for the long-term demand forecast process.

    • Work with Worldwide Commercialization Analytics to generate long-term commercial demand forecasts from long-term financial models and forecasts.

    • Drive strategic discussions with Global Supply Chain (GSC), GPS Strategy, GTS Business Continuity Management, and Operational Units (OpUs) to utilize analytics/insights to support the long-term supply planning, network strategy, and BCM business processes.

    • Engage with subject matter experts and leaders within Global Supply Chain to co-develop the analytics needed to integrate next-generation long-term demand forecasts and analytics into GSC long-range planning processes.

    • Effectively partner and collaborate with other Analytics team members to identify and evaluate current and future analytics needs for GPS, and to deliver a consistent Analytics engagement model with stakeholders.

    • Partner with Operating Units Analytics & Supply Chain Analytics teams to support functional area analytics needs.

    • Proactively measure and communicate value generation from analytics deliveries within GPS and BI&T.

    • Proactively identify new opportunities to further leverage analytics, data, and analytical solutions - prioritizing opportunities with the biggest potential benefit to the business.

    • Ensure best practice adoption within stated areas of responsibility, applying appropriate levels of technical capability, standardization, and subject matter expertise.

    • Proactively manage planned and ad-hoc analytics requests, ensuring appropriate prioritization, consistent quality, and timeliness in delivery to business stakeholders.

    • Drive a culture of analytics and fact-based decision making through the utilization of standard methodologies and approaches.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Finance, or other quantitative field. Masters or advanced degree preferred.

    • 1+ years experience with applied machine learning, statistical models, time-series modeling, or quantitative forecasting

    • 1+ years experience with R, SQL and/or Python in production/operational environments

    • Experience working with large data sets

    • Experience in basic data architecture and database concepts

    • Experience in working with probabilistic methods, including Monte Carlo Simulations, probability theory, Bayesian methods

    • Experience in the life sciences and/or pharmaceutical industry is desired, but not required

    • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills

    • Excellence interpersonal, collaborative, and communication within matrix teams

    • Strong project management skills

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
