    Responsibilities

    • Support process safety improvements at the sites. Work with sites to improve their Process Safety Management (PSM) programs and procedures to ensure compliance with internal policies and local regulations.

    • Support the development global best practice across all areas of process safety (e.g., global standards and guidelines) and work with sites to implement these

    • Support the improvement of process safety awareness across sites. Develop process safety training packages and work with sites to implement training to appropriate employees

    • Support the development site process safety expertise. Provide training, feedback, and coaching for site process safety subject matter experts

    • Provide feedback to sites through audits, inspections and informal reviews to ensure that site PSM procedures are properly implemented

    • Provide advice to projects on the process safety testing requirements based on corporate guidance

    • Provide advice on the interpretation and application of process safety data including process modifications and process controls required to mitigate hazards

    • Provide advice on process safety requirements of capital projects

    • Work with sites to identify risks presented by operations and propose recommendations. Where required, attend or lead process safety risk assessments or Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPs) as process safety subject matter expert

    • Where required, provide direction on process safety requirements of new business opportunities

    • Exhibit safety awareness and safe work practices. Protect employees and visitors by maintaining a safe and clean working environment

    • Recommend and implement methods to increase the quality of products and services

    • Occasional travel

    Qualifications

    • Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related discipline.

    • 3+ years' experience in a chemical process industry with a focus in process safety,

    Knowledge, skills and abilities

    • Knowledge of hazard and risk analysis

    • Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements (OSHA PSM, EPA RMP)

    • Ability to facilitate hazard reviews and HAZOPs

    • Knowledge of the application of process safety data to plant scale operations (e.g. thermal stability, reaction calorimetry, explosivity screening and dust explosion data)

    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

    • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

    • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees

    • Self-motivated, able to work independently and prioritize tasks to meet timelines.

    • Works effectively with cross-functional teams across multiple sites and cultures.
