    Meaningful Work From Day One

    Responsible for all maintenance, boiler operations, plant facilities and systems at the Brown-Forman Cooperage. Directly supervises the activities of approximately 10 highly skilled craft employees. Responsible for creating a team environment focused on employee engagement, safety and a workplace that fosters teamwork. Provides direction and support to the site Maintenance team and is responsible for plant maintenance and boiler operations. Ensures that maintenance activities and areas of responsibility adhere to required regulatory, safety, environmental and quality requirements.

    What You Can Expect

    • Responsible for all maintenance, facilities upkeep, and boiler operations at the Brown-Forman Cooperage.

    • Provides direction and support to the maintenance employees; sets policy and establishes procedures for the department; and monitors and supervises boiler and maintenance operations and activities to ensure productive, efficient operations, compliant with all regulatory requirements.

    • Prioritizes, plans, schedules, and communicates work orders/PMs for each shift daily. Ensures that each mechanic is fully utilized and holds them accountable for completion of scheduled work.

    • Partners with Inventory Management Administrator to ensure parts inventory are kept at optimal levels in concert with the Maintenance Manager.

    • Develops and utilizes inventory management systems, and serves as additional point of receiving for shipments to maintenance.

    • Works with equipment manufacturers, supervision, and trades to design and maintain effective preventive maintenance programs for all equipment and systems.

    • Develops preventive maintenance work order packages.

    • Provides recommendations for preventive maintenance program improvements.

    • Manages the daily staffing of maintenance personnel, daily and weekend overtime assignments and communicates daily with maintenance employees across all shifts to assess status of current maintenance needs, assign or adjust work orders, follow up on assigned work, and plan and schedule future maintenance work. Provides for the general growth and development of subordinate staff, establishes performance standards, and monitors and evaluates performance within these standards.

    • Stays abreast of changing regulatory, environmental, safety, OSHA and other requirements through training and education as they pertain to engineering and maintenance support.

    • This position will work on 3rd shift with hours 9:30pm - 6:30am.

    What You Bring to the Table

    • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial) and 3-5 years experience working in a manufacturing environment including experience supervising/managing/leading a maintenance and/or operations function OR 5-10 years experience working in a manufacturing environment including experience supervising/managing/leading a maintenance and/or operations function.

    • Experience in the repair and maintenance of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, managing a boiler room operation and related systems.

    • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and the ability to prepare and present finished reports and project updates using word processing, spreadsheets, or other computer applications.

    • Ability to climb stairs and ladders, climb over and under conveyors and generally move about in a manufacturing environment while inspecting, observing, and managing operations.
