Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description

This position is responsible for setting up molds and cycling them into specifications, maintaining all operations in a safe and efficient manner, and ensuring acceptable quality and production requirements.

Responsibilities

• Set up molds and cycle into specifications.

• Understand various materials, mixing materials, automatic color blenders, and cycles.

• Explain why different materials require different cycles.

• Identify and distinguish various defects and dimensions.

• Possess knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems of machines.

• Troubleshoot minor problems and make adjustments to get machines into specification.

• Properly shut down and start up machines.

• Train and assist other technicians in performing work.

• Maintain good housekeeping in the work area.

• Assist other job classifications and perform work as assigned.

• Assist in the training of other maintenance, production, and other personnel in areas of expertise.

• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).

• Adhere to company policies and procedures.

• Monitor assigned line's operation while complying with safety, quality, production, and housekeeping standards.

• Apply knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic theory and procedure in maintenance and repair of extrusion, auxiliary, and support equipment.

• Analyze, set up, and maintain equipment for safe and continuous operation.

Essential Skills

• Ability to read electrical schematics and identify symbols and control circuits.

• Understand and troubleshoot PLC programs and logic.

• Troubleshoot electrical circuits with reasonable accuracy.

• Install motors, relays, starters, and control circuits.

• Read hydraulic schematics and identify symbols and control circuits.

• Troubleshoot hydraulic circuits with reasonable accuracy.

• Perform maintenance on all types of equipment represented in the plant.

• Skill with refrigeration, drying, conveying, fluid pumps, blowing and vacuum pumps, pneumatic circuits, and welding/fabrication.

• Troubleshooting, blow mold, hydraulics, pneumatics, maintenance repair, electrical, mechanical, preventive maintenance, blow molding or plastics.

• Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

• Mechanically inclined with skills in plastic repair, blow molding, extrusion, molding machine maintenance, blueprint reading, injection mold, mold, schematic reading, packaging, plastic injection, hydraulics, and pneumatics.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred or 5+ years' experience in a maintenance role.

• Some post-secondary education preferred (i.e., technical or vocational education).

• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.

• Basic math, computer, and organizational skills.

• Ability to read schematics and blueprints.

• Demonstrated maintenance and troubleshooting skills involving mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems as well as systems using electric motors and sensors for operational functions (i.e., automated equipment).

Work Environment

This location is a flexible packaging company servicing various industries globally. The facility spans 90,000 sq feet and includes 15 extrusion lines and 2 labeling lines. The primary products include shampoo, lotion, and cleaning solution bottles of various sizes and colors. The work environment involves working with extrusion machines that are mostly mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic driven.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Itasca, Illinois.

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00
