    8th Avenue Food & Provisions is a growing organization made up of businesses that produce and sell quality products including pasta, peanut butter, granola, and fruit and nut trail mixes to retail, foodservice and ingredient customers. The company was formed in October 2018 through a combination of Post Holdings' private brands businesses and is owned by Post Holdings and funds affiliated with Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P. ("THL"), a private equity firm.

    Responsibilities

    Position Summary:

    Our Mechanic is a valuable part of our team. Our Mechanics perform troubleshooting and preventative maintenance work throughout the facility during their shift. The priorities for this role include: preventative maintenance, mechanical troubleshooting, repair of mechanical systems equipment and components, and rebuilding of mechanical systems equipment and components. Training Schedule: 6a-2p, once trained permanent schedule will be Tuesday-Sunday 11p-7a

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Perform daily maintenance tasks and troubleshooting of packaging and production equipment and systems, including: Extruder, Dryers, Dry bulk storage & conveying, Dilute phase pneumatic conveying, High speed packaging including cartoners, baggers, case-packers, palletizers, low pressure boilers, thermal fluid process heaters, material handling systems, water chillers, compressed air systems, and HVAC systems Partner with operations and maintenance teams to solve repetitive problems, complete preventative maintenance and predictive maintenance programs and work Partner with operations to learn operating systems, while providing training on mechanical components Other duties, as assigned

    Education and Experience Required:

    Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime High school diploma or GED equivalent from and accredited institution and one of the following: Two-year associate degree or higher in technical field (mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, electro-mechanical, controls and automation, etc.) Completed apprenticeship in mechanic, mechanical maintenance, or electro-mechanical, electrical, or related field Military training and experience in a relevant Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 2+ years hands-on experience in a mechanic, maintenance, electrical, electro-mechanical, controls and automation, or related role

    Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

    Previous maintenance experience in a food manufacturing facility Previous experience reading blueprints and schematics Previous experience with MIG, TIG, and stick welding Previous experience with power transmission components; belt drives, chain drives, bearings, motors & gears Previous experience with drill presses, lathes, Bridgeport-type mills Experience with operation and maintenance of forklifts, scissor lifts, and articulated lifts

    Physical Requirements: Qualified candidates must be able to perform the following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation: Must be able to lift up-to 34 pounds for 6+ hours per shift Must be able to lift up-to 50 pounds for 3+ hours per shift Must be able to sit, climb and work off ladder, and operate foot pedals for 3+ hours per shift Must be able to work in a dusty and cold environment for 3+ hours per shift Must be able to work in high heat and humidity for 6+ hours per shift Must be able to balance, bend, crouch, kneel, stoop, walk, and reach above shoulders for 6+ hours per shift Must be able to perform simple grasping, push, pull, perform fine manipulation for 6+ hours per shift Must be able to stand for 8+ hours per shift
