    We are searching for a Machine & Tool Validation Technician who will be focused on machine & tool testing at our Beaverton, MI location. This role will be responsible for performing machine and tooling acceptance per customer expectations making necessary adjustments to the machine to run product for customers for acceptance of the machine build. Will also provide training of customer personnel on proper installation, use and maintenance of machines requiring travel to the customer’s plants for general service calls. The ideal candidate has thermoforming operator and thermoform processing experience as well as being mechanically inclined.

    Wage includes hourly base pay with an increased pay scale when traveling or visiting customer sites.

    KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Receive job instructions from supervisor.
    2. Work with little supervision beyond initial orders.
    3. Make necessary adjustments to machines to ready them for tryout and customer demonstration. Level and align machine.
    4. Check machine out completely, electronically, hydraulically, pneumatically, and mechanically including heaters and ovens.
    5. Complete tooling installation set-up and machine set-up for thermoforming various types of plastic.
    6. Process thermoforming and auxiliary equipment (grinders, temperature control units, chillers, etc.)
    7. Run material through machine and produce acceptable samples. May require various adjustments of machine and tooling.
    8. Converse with customer describing results of product run.
    9. Troubleshoot and diagnose the machine and tooling within the thermoforming process to produce quality parts at the required cycle times.
    10. Set-up and run research and development projects as required.
    11. Travel as required to service product lines under BMG - thermoformers, trim presses, upgrades, etc.
    12. Perform factory acceptance tests on machinery/tooling from installation to finished product.
    13. Conduct training at customer plants on preventative maintenance process.

    EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. High School diploma required; higher education preferred.
    2. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in plastic forming materials preferred.
    3. Ability to complete tooling installation set-up and machine set-up to process thermoforming.
    4. Have a working knowledge of running thermoforming equipment and auxiliary equipment.
    5. A thorough knowledge of various plastics, heats, and characteristics preferred. (HIPS, PVC, Polystyrene, Polyethylene, ABS, Paper, etc.)
    6. Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
    7. Good communication skills.
    8. Willingness to travel domestic and international up to 50%-75% of the time.

    ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    1. Lift, push, and pull up 35 to 50 lbs. occasionally.
    2. Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
    3. Walk for extended periods of time.
    4. May work in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time, perform sustained manual activities at low to moderate levels of exertion.
    5. Must be able to access and navigate within each department at the organization’s facilities (i.e. climb stairs, ladders, etc.)



    Compensation details: 20-25 Hourly Wage
