    The Department of Corrections is looking for a Librarian for our Faribault facility. This position will support facility goals through the development and implementation of library programs and services in coordination with education, treatment, and correctional programming to promote the personal and cultural development of the incarcerated population.

    This position is located in a correctional facility and will have direct contact with students who are incarcerated.

    Minimum Qualifications

    To be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below. Ensure that your resume contains descriptions of your work experiences sufficient for comparison against the requirements stated below and indicate the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.

    • One (1) year of experience in library cataloging, reader advisory experience, or other related responsibilities.

    • Knowledge of the principles and practices of library/information sciences and library operations sufficient to develop and administer a system of diverse/specialized technical library information services.

    • Human relations and interpersonal skills sufficient to provide effective library services to a diverse offender population.

    Preferred Qualifications

    The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position

    • Advanced degree in Library Science, Library Media, Information Media, or a related field

    • Experience as a Librarian

    • Experience working in a law library

    Physical Requirements

    Additional Requirements

    The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections' policy. Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.

    Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections' policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.
