Lead, Wig Crew - SFX Hair - Universal Epic Universe

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for leading SFX Wig Crew at assigned venues, and updating documentation and style guides as necessary. Able to style/restyle, clean, and maintain wigs and related hair costume products based on approved style guides and parameters for all venues and special events or seasonal events (also known as Marquee Events) throughout UO (including Epic) as well as additional or developmental projects as directed by Wig and Makeup Leadership team. Necessary skills include, cutting, cleaning, styling of wigs, knowledge of all materials and supplies used in the maintenance of theatrical wigs.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides work direction to team members. Monitors compliance of current company and department policies and procedures. Communicates performance, behavior standards, and expectations; provides feedback for recognition and performance improvement. Captures written behaviors using the Lead Observation Report to support managerial and supervisory documentation. Updates documentation and style guides as necessary. Assist SFX Wig Designer and Management with application of design elements for wigs for new characters or shows/projects/events, incorporating the new product into current inventory and maintenance processes.

• Provide the application, removal and care of all forms of wigs, hair pieces, hair costume products utilized in the Entertainment Department and throughout Universal Orlando, including cleaning, cutting, styling, fitting/measuring, washing, and maintenance of all types/styles/textures of hair, wigs, and hair pieces. In cases where wigs are not being used, style and advise on styling techniques for a variety of hair textures, types, trends and styles. Apply facial hair pieces such as eyebrows, beards and mustaches as well applying hair to masks and prosthetic foam pieces beneficial.

• Maintain equipment, supplies and cleanliness of workstation and area. Monitor equipment and supplies and initiate repair/replacement/re-order process. Monitor the progress of the process to assure timely completion. Complete administrative tasks relating to the process and other activities as assigned. Monitor inventory for wear and tear and ask for replacements as needed.

• Observe shows/character sets for wig/hair appearance notes to maintain quality. Communicate and troubleshoot with Makeup & Prosthetic Leadership team members as it relates to issue/notes that have arisen surrounding wigs/hair. Assist with application of design elements for wigs for new characters or shows/projects/events, incorporating the new product into current inventory and maintenance processes.

• Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

• Certificate in hair style/cosmetology preferred

EXPERIENCE:

• 2+ years experience with wig styling, cleaning maintenance; theatrical wig experience preferred

• ; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

• Styles, cleans, maintains theatrical wigs and related supplies.

• Coordinates distribution to performers.
