  • Eaton's ES AMER PCS division is currently seeking a Lead Electronics Hardware Engineer. The position will be based at our Moon TWP, PA office and does offer relocation assistance within US/PR. The role is eligible for a hyrbid work set up (3 days in office, 2 days remote).

    The expected annual salary range for this role is $91500.03 - $134200.04 a year.

    What you'll do:

    PRIMARY FUNCTION:

    Design, development and maintenance of electronic trip units used in circuit breakers for Power Components Division. Responsibilities include new product development, supporting the resolution of field / production issues, feature / performance enhancements to improve existing products, validating changes in design or manufacturing, validating cost reductions and addressing application issues. The Lead Hardware Engineer will spearhead hardware engineering projects from the initial concept through the production launch, work with contract manufacturers, advise and assist on production test and create/maintain functionality related to protection, metering, communication, and user interface.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Performs electronics design that meets & exceeds marketing/customer requirements

    • Lead the support to production issues and field issues and work closely with manufacturing teams and field service teams to provide assistance in a timely manner

    • Creates fully documented designs that are easily understood by others

    • Review own work as well as others work in formal design and quality reviews

    • Tests own work or work of others, meeting quality and reliability goals.

    • Develops a high level of technical expertise in embedded design and over time becomes a SME for trip unit functionality

    • Strong test and debug skills

    • Performs requirement definition, issue tracking and design collaboration (for example using JAMA, Jira, & Confluence)

    • Plans work in detail at individual level, creating a robust and track-able plan, coordinated with the larger development team

    • Trains new engineers in best design practices and Eaton processes

    • Provides domain expertise to product support personnel to solve field issues

    • Improves engineering design and product support processes

    • Performs and contributes to technical research and investigations

    Qualifications:

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution

    • Minimum of 5 years of engineering or electronics experience

    • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience developing embedded electronics

    • Experience performing electronic circuits design, PCBA hardware development and firmware integration

    • Experience with Digital and Analog circuitry, communication interface

    • Knowledge of EMC/EMI design, test standards & troubleshooting

    • Experience designing products meeting UL safety requirements

    • Experience in developing device drivers and hardware bring-up

    • Experience with C and C++ Experience with Project tracking tools such as Jira, Confluence

    Skills:

    POSITION CRITERIA:

    • Electronics design, both digital and analog

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    • Working with cross-functional, global development teams

    • 8 bit through 32 bit microcontroller based systems (e.g. ARM Cortex, PIC)

    • EDA tools, including schematic capture and PCB layout

    • Hardware bring-up, debugging, signal characterization and manufacturing support

    • Implementing hardware communications

    • Using meters, Digital Oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers, frequency generators

    • Perform EMI/EMC Testing

    • Using defect tracking systems

    • Designing products meeting UL safety requirements
