Laser Operator

Description:

The Laser Operator will work at the Gilchrist Road facility and be a member of the GMP Friction Products Union.

This position is responsible for assisting with the day to day activities of the laser operations. This position will include, but not be limited to, performing the following duties.

· Basic setup of machine which includes the ability to load programs, select correct cutting head, correct nozzle and center beam to nozzle.

· Maintaining efficient run rates and material utilization;

· Basic setup of machine ability to load programs, select correct cutting head, correct nozzle, center beam to nozzle.

· Unloading and deburring of parts with pneumatic die grinders with various type of attachments determined by the job requirements.

· Use of an electric angle grinder using job specific deburring materials.

· Operating forklift to move materials from storage to loaded into the machine to process. Also unloading/loading trucks as needed.

· Filing out travelers completely with needed job specific information.

· General upkeep of shop and machine cleaning as time permits.

· Assisting with shipping and receiving;

· Identifying different types and thickness of material;

· Have knowledge of gases used, how to replace parts and set pressures;

Requirements:

Education:

· High School Diploma or GED;

Experience/Knowledge:

· Experience with the Use of Micrometers and Calipers

· CAD and Trutops software experience helpful;

· Minimum of one year in all areas of operation of the CNC laser.

· Experience in a precision machining environment helpful;

· Ability to read and interpret documents, drawings;

· Fork lift training;

· Carrying out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram format.
