  • RESPONSIBILITIES

    I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Prepares high quality entrees, meats, soups and gravies, desserts and special food according to prescribed instructions with "customer is first" concept: presentation of food on plate and customer oriented.

    • Works closely with Chef to create new menu ideas and food concepts.

    II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Required: standing, walking, stooping/bending, twisting body, finger dexterity, seeing, speaking, lifting usual weight of up to 50 pounds; pushing/pulling usual weight of up to 5 pounds of force; carrying usual weight of up to 50 pounds, reaching above, at and below shoulder level, repetitive arm/hand motions, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods, frequent gripping of an object.

    • Occasional: kneeling, squatting.

    III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.

    • Exposed to heat from cooking equipment and cold temperatures from freezer/refrigerator.

    • Subjected to noise/vibration from food equipment.

    • Exposure to electrical current from equipment and cleaning chemicals/detergents; odors/vapors from cooked foods.

    IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

    • High School diploma or equivalent.

    • Knowledge of basic food terminology and preparation.

    • Knowledge and ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.

    B. EXPERIENCE:

    • Graduated from culinary school or three (3) years experience working as a Cook, preferably in a healthcare institution.
