I. TITLE: K/12 Instructional Para Professional Coach
II. QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated success as a teacher - five years of successful experience preferred
- Experience working with children who are underperforming in reading, writing and/or math
- Strong communication skills and the ability to coach/mentor others
- Experience in curriculum development, professional development and data interpretation
- Knowledge of District 251 school improvement initiatives including evidence-based instructional strategies for reading and mathematics, sheltered instruction and differentiated instruction
- Knowledge of assessment practices including universal screening, formative assessment and progress monitoring
- Demonstrated effective use of instructional and assessment technology
- Ability to maintain the integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, or District patrons
- Valid Idaho Teaching Certificate endorsed for appropriate levels and subjects preferred
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

- JOB GOALS:
The Instructional Coach will work with building principals, classroom teachers and para-educators to provide direct support and assistance in the classroom to facilitate implementation of adopted curriculum, use of effective instructional strategies and the use of data to improve student achievement.
- ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Form strong professional relationships with colleagues
- Communicate effectively with administrators, teachers and paraprofessionals
- Provide model teaching lessons or side-by-side coaching based on observations
- Support para professional learning by training and coaching staff in the implementation of adopted curriculum, interventions and evidence-based instructional strategies
- Assist para-educators in the development of effective classroom management strategies
- Coordinate ongoing formative assessment and progress monitoring practices
- Support school intervention teams and collaborate regarding instructional decisions based on data
- Use data to monitor and evaluate program implementation
- Work with teachers and para educators to help analyze data and improve instructional practices
- Provide staff development to small or large groups of educators
- Work collaboratively with para educators to use evidence-based reading strategies, mathematics instruction and literacy techniques that support all content areas
- Cultivate and model a respectful working and learning environment
- Maintain high standards of ethical behavior and maintain the integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, or District patrons

- Performs all other duties as assigned consistent with the responsibilities of a teacher, the Idaho Code of Ethics, and the negotiated contract.

The exact terms of this position will be determined by the needs of the district and budgetary constraints.

Performance of this position will be evaluated by the Directors of Federal Programs, Elementary Education and Secondary Education.
