This role offers a unique opportunity for those eager to grow their skills in SCADA systems.     The District:

    The District was established in 1935 by the Salt Lake City Commission. The District's primary function is to provide high quality drinking water for our member cities, Salt Lake City and Sandy City, by creating a firm water supply.

    The Position:

    The District is at an exciting juncture with significant upgrades planned for our SCADA systems, crucial for the enhancement and safety of our wtaer treatment operations. We are seeking a Junior SCADA Programmer who has a basic understanding of industrial automation to be part of this transformation:

    • Strategic Initiatives: As we prepare for the redevelopment of the Little Cottonwood Water Treatment Plant, we are upgrading our SCADA systems, including software adoption, programming standards establishment, and HMI redesign.
    • Current System Upgrades: Our existing SCADA HMI software is being upgraded, and we need someone with a foundational knowledge in automation to help with this transition.
    • Long-Term Growth
      This entry-level position is tailored for those with a fundatmental interest in automation and control systems. Over time, your role will expand to include more complex PLC programming, offering significant growth opportunities within our SCADA team.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Assist in programming and modifying PLC and HMI systems.
    • Participate in system troubleshooting and maintenance.
    • Document changes and assist in operational procedures.
    • Learn and apply cybersecurity best practices within SCADA environments.

    Qualifications:

    • Associate's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or related fields; or
    • Relevant certification in automation or control systems, or equivalent experience in a related field
    • Basic understanding of automation and control systems, with willingness to learn and expand into SCADA technologies
    • Certification in SCADA, PLC, or related technology preferred, but not required
    • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Team player with good communication skills
    • Valid Utah driver's license required

    Compensation details: 73965-94000 Yearly Salary
