    Position Summary: The Junior Financial Analyst position will be responsible for supporting the Financial Planning and Analysis function at Mercury including data collection and reporting, variance analysis, ad hoc financial analysis, and developing reporting automation. This role is intended to be an entry-level position within the Finance organization with the goal of developing financial analysis skills and ultimately promoting the Junior Financial Analyst up through the finance organization or other departments based on Mercury’s needs and the candidate’s interests. The position will report to the Finance Manager.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Analyze data and prepare associated financial reporting
    • Automate data collection and evaluation capabilities
    • Data sourcing and management
    • Results trend and driver-based variance analysis
    • Financial analysis and decision support
    • Financial support of the forecasting and budgeting process
    • Financial and forecast model management

    Skills and Requirements:

    • Excellent analytical, computational, and mathematical abilities
    • Proficiency in data extraction and management
    • High level of integrity
    • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
    • Familiarity with accounting principles
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Exceptional Microsoft Excel & Microsoft Office capabilities
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

    Physical Requirements:

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
    • Light to moderate lifting may be required.
    • Regular, predictable attendance is required; including quarter-driven hours as business demands dictate.
    • Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period.

    Education Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in (mathematics, statistics, finance, economics, or accounting major preferred
    • 0-2 years of financial analysis experience
