Description
Performs work as part of a team in an industrial laundry facility. Responsible for the safe, expeditious, and accurate handling of merchandise into and/or out of the laundry facility.
Empties trash cans in designated areas, cleans tunnel screens, and breaks down boxes; Cleans, sweeps, and, where necessary, mops, in restrooms and designated areas; Wipes down fans, walls, lights, and equipment in designated areas, as well as changes floor mats as necessary; Cleans outside the break area and lunch room, and moves empty barrels from soil dock to loading dock; Maintains safe and clean work environment, and observes best practices in all production activities; Works a schedule that is flexible to the Market Center demand.
Duties
Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming of floors and surfaces.
Maintain cleanliness in restrooms, break rooms, and common areas by restocking supplies and ensuring sanitary conditions.
Conduct floor care activities such as buffing, waxing, and stripping as needed to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
Assist with residential painting and minor facilities maintenance tasks when required.
Carry out commercial and industrial cleaning duties in accordance with safety protocols.
Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel promptly.
Ensure all cleaning equipment is properly maintained and stored after use.
Work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure efficient operations of the facility.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Ability to understand all required training, written, and verbal instructions; Working knowledge of basic math skills; Good verbal and written communication skills; Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Ability to meet attendance schedule; Work is based on a shift schedule, and may include weekends. Overtime required as needed.
Work is performed in a warehouse setting and regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, extreme heat and cold conditions as well as dust and noise. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions; Requires the ability to move, lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 25 lbs; Requires bending, reaching, pulling, and lifting; Requires the use of hands for grasping and other manipulations; Requires standing and walking for long periods of time.
Qualifications
Previous experience in custodial services or related fields such as commercial cleaning or facilities maintenance is preferred.
Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, equipment usage, and safety procedures is essential.
Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for extended periods, and working in various environmental conditions.
Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
A positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team are crucial for success in this role.
