The MNIT DHS team supports complex and varied technical needs, including systems that provide health care coverage, deliver child protection and welfare services, and provide support for Minnesotans with special needs including mental illness, chemical dependencies, and physical or developmental disabilities.

Join our team as an IT Project Manager and take the lead on shaping the future of technology and business solutions across the state. This role offers a unique opportunity to manage small and less complex IT projects while contributing to larger initiatives alongside experienced project managers.
In this position, you will oversee the development, enhancement, and retirement of IT solutions, systems, and processes that span foundational infrastructure, enterprise applications, and innovative services. Your work will ensure that these projects are delivered effectively and consistently, with a focus on quality and impact.
Lead projects through initiation, planning, execution, control, and closure using industry best practices, including PMBOK standards and guidelines established by MNIT.
Collaborate with the Project Management Office (PMO) to coordinate project intake, assist with project justification and prioritization, and prepare portfolio reports for leadership.
Ensure the consistent use of project management controls, including planning, scheduling, risk management, status reporting, and change control.

This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:
Telework (~~~) for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.
Minimum Qualifications

Position requires a minimum of two (2) years of experience performing IT project management functions and/or IT project coordination.
Coordinating project tasks and deliverables.
Utilizing project management methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid approaches.
Managing project schedules, risks, and budgets.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Knowledge of project management tools and software (e.g., Microsoft Project, JIRA, Planview, or similar).
Strong communication, facilitation, organizational, and analytical skills, with a proven ability to deliver results in a structured and documented manner.
Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.
A bachelor's degree or higher in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for two (2) years of experience, OR an IT or related associate's degree substitutes for one (1) year.
Preferred Qualifications
Basic understanding of industry best practices for project management and Agile, including service and systems development.
Project Management Professional (PMP), Agile certification or equivalent.
Basic understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), and/or Program Management Lifecycle frameworks, including concepts and best practices.
Experience using Collaborative Lifecycle Management tools and SharePoint to support project and product delivery.
Experience working within a government or public sector IT environment.
Familiarity with statewide or large-scale IT system implementations.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple small projects simultaneously while supporting larger project initiatives.
Proficiency in developing project portfolio reports and presenting progress to leadership.
