  • The Opportunity:

    WSP is currently seeking an Intermediate Transportation Electrical Engineer to join our Transportation and Infrastructure group in Victoria, BC . This position will play a key role in designing and implementing electrical systems for transportation infrastructure projects.

    This is an in-office position based out of Victoria, British Columbia and, while we welcome applicants from across Canada, successful candidates will be expected to be located within the southern Vancouver Island region.

    What you can expect to do here:

    • Assist in the design and planning of electrical systems related to transportation lighting & signal systems off-property, including Highway and Roadway Lighting, Traffic Signal infrastructure at intersections, Multi-Use Pathway lighting, Pedestrian Crossings, Roundabouts, Sports Fields, Parking Lots, High Mast installations, etc., and other infrastructure.

    • Support senior engineers and project managers in executing projects, ensuring they meet technical and regulatory standards.

    • Conduct technical analysis and evaluations to ensure the feasibility and efficiency of electrical designs.

    • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, material quantity estimates and costs, AGI lighting calculations, and reports.

    • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project success.

    • Identify and resolve technical issues that arise during project execution.

    What you'll bring to WSP:

    • An undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university.

    • 3-4 years of experience in designing Roadway Lighting and Traffic Signal electrical systems.

    • Professional Engineer in EGBC is required.

    • Extensive consulting experience with municipal and provincial clients, utilizing local and provincial design standards specific to Alberta and British Columbia.

    • Proficient in managing multiple projects at various stages of design and construction, ensuring adherence to deadlines.

    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).

    • Excellent communication skills - written and verbal, including teamwork and interpersonal abilities.

    • Strong time management skills with the ability to respond to changing priorities and meet deadlines both independently and part of a project team.

    • Strong focus on managing multiple projects with a solid commitment to exceptional client service on an ongoing basis.

    Compensation

    Salary range (in British Columbia): $91,200 - $125,400

    The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
