Instrument Mechanic

Amentum is seeking an Instrument Mechanic to join our team in Hawthorne, Nevada to support the Hawthorne Army Depot. The Instrument Mechanic will conduct a wide range of duties involving the calibration, repair or testing of various Test Measurement Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) to include but not limited to scales, pressure gauges; torque wrenches; gauge blocks; temperature gauges; electromechanical systems and other various measuring systems. The Instrument Mechanic will certify that gauging systems are within measurement parameters.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Typical Responsibilities Include :

• Directly performs wide range of duties involving the calibration, repair or testing of various Test Measurement Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) to include but not limited to: scales; pressure gauges; torque wrenches; gauge blocks; temperature gauges; electromechanical systems and other like items. Works with outside agencies to arrange or schedule calibration and/or repair of TMDE. Provides technical assistance to other departments in all calibration related matters. Maintains all calibration, maintenance and usage records for TMDE for the installation.

• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, test and calibrate scales of various sizes and capacities, pressure gauges and pressure devices, torque measuring devices, and temperature and humidity equipment and devices. Follow Safety Data Sheet guidelines for handling and storage of Hazardous Materials.

• Adjust electrical/mechanical systems of analytical balances. Perform standardization measurement for weights and measures used during calibration. Maintain traceability to the National Bureau of Standards for all.

• Certify that gauges are within measure parameters. Provide technical assistance in calibration and modification of gauges for specific application. Prepare requisitions.

• Perform inspection of equipment involving precision measurements as assigned.

• Utilize Maximo Program & GIDEP Program to assist with work orders.

• Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations, to include reporting potential real environmental concerns to the Environmental Service office.

• May be required to work overtime

• Be at work when scheduled and maintain a good attendance record.

• Reads and understands Task Hazard Analysis for identifying risks to health and safety during job specific tasks in the work place.

• Performs other duties of the same or lower level of difficulty as assigned.

• May be assigned occasional duties of a higher level of difficulty than those listed above.

Minimum Qualifications :

• Must be 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma/equivalent.

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State driver's license.

• Must have a minimum of Two (2) years' experience with measuring instrument repair or related experience required; Four (4) years highly desirable, or a combination of education, training, and experience.

• Must have the mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot measurement systems.

• Must have knowledge of Maximo and GIDEP.

• Must be able to identify and use a wide variety of tools and machinery.

• Must also be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of government security clearance as well as a clearance through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and be favorably vetted through the NCIC III System.

• Must be able to obtain/maintain all certifications as required by Amentum's Master Training Plan.

• Good writing and verbal communication skills.

• Must be able to operate a computerized based terminal and literate in common software applications.

• Must be willing to work overtime, varying hours and/or rotating shifts.

• Must maintain fitness-for-duty standards to perform the essential functions of the position, to include any HWAD drill, contingency and/or emergency requirement.

• Be detail oriented and able to exercise good judgment in problem solving.

• Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner. Perform safety sensitive duties.
