    Responsibilities

    The Informatics Specialist provides consultation for and administration of information technology that impacts the measurement and reporting of clinical quality. Operates as the functional technical expert on specified quality data systems. Will design and document workflow and make appropriate recommendations that will positively impact operational effectiveness. Provides project management and technical analysis support for quality measurement, reporting and analytics projects. Remains current on an array of activities including clinical processes, analysis techniques, information management tools and methodologies and advises on the proper use at Mayo.

    Assists in the design, development of new technical approaches, methodologies and tools for quality measurement process automation, data driven decision making and planning. Remains current on external trends and regulatory requirements related to Health Information Technology and quality measurement. The position serves as an expert in the design and execution of measurement technology solutions. Serves as a liaison between Quality Management Services and other institutional groups, linking technology, and information management to measurement and reporting modalities. Serves as an enterprise resource and provides system support and education for quality data systems and submissions. The Specialists will mentor and train Associates and orient recently hired staff. Will also be responsible for larger, more complex work assignments.

    Job Requirements for Informatics Specialist

    • Ensure complete and accurate data abstraction for clinical practice.

    • Develop and measure hospital quality measures in alignment with internal and external regulatory requirements.

    • Participate in accurate report analysis and interpretation to support clinical practice improvement.

    • Serve as subject matter expert in assigned clinical workflows.

    • Demonstrate organizational and prioritization skills in a complex, fast-paced environment.

    • Support enterprise-wide regulatory data submissions for federal/state level inpatient and hospital ambulatory requirements.

    This Position is 50% Remote, must live within driving distance of Mayo Clinic Campus

    Qualifications

    Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Informatics, Business, Health Administration, Health Information Management, Management Information Systems or other systems-related discipline and 5 years related experience or High School Diploma/GED and 9 years related experience. Clinical credentials (RN, BSN, LPN, CST, EMT-P, etc.) or Health Information Management Credentials (RHIA, RHIT, etc.) preferred. Strong knowledge of data analytic tools such as Business Objects, Crystal Reporting, SQL Script, Excel, Tableau or similar data analytic tools. Understanding of the software development lifecycle. Demonstrated leadership qualities with exceptional oral and written communication skills required. Must be self-motivated and able to work independently at a high level of productivity without close supervision. Must also possess the ability to work well with others in a creative and challenging work environment.

    Knowledge and experience with quality improvement concepts required. Demonstrated proficiency with project management methodologies. Proven ability to successfully manage projects of moderate complexity. In-depth understanding of trends in quality data reporting, health information management and technology. Experienced in identification and monitoring of performance metrics, risks, controls. Ability to quickly understand revenue cycle, coding and clinical processes, and understand how those processes will impact consistency and integrity of data. Demonstrates system and analytical thinking capability.

    Knowledge of basic statistics, data analysis, and graphic displays of information. Possesses expert investigational skills, shows attention to detail, accuracy and ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks. Able to lead others through difficult situations. Clinical credentials or Health Information Management Credentials (i.e. MSN, RN, BSN, RHIA, RHIT, etc.) preferred. Achievement of associated certification such as CPHIMS, RN-BC, CPHI or other agreed-upon certification preferred. Possess knowledge and understanding of regulatory measures and issues (preferred).

    $70,512.00 - $115,564.80/ year; Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
