Industrial Designer (Hybrid)

Location: Summit, New JerseyJob Type: ContractCompensation Range: $47 - 51 per hourWe are seeking an Industrial Designer to lead the conceptualization, design, and execution of physical packaging projects. This role involves collaborating with internal teams and vendors to create innovative, sustainable, and functional packaging solutions that align with brand guidelines and marketing objectives. The ideal candidate will drive impactful design, reduce environmental impact, and ensure seamless production from concept to delivery.Responsibilities:

Oversee the conceptualization, design, and execution of physical packaging projects from inception to production, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines, category prototypes, and marketing objectives.

This individual will collaborate with the BDT Design Lead & Sr. Manager, Industrial Design Team, business partners and vendors.

Responsible for driving the full brand breakthrough packaging vision and its implementation, turning it into a significant brand-building advantage.

Create functional and aesthetic mock ups to assess the user experience and form. Partner with vendors to create appearance models.

Lead initiatives to reduce environmental impact through innovative design approaches, such as minimizing material use, exploring recyclable, and optimizing packaging for shipping efficiency.

Research and select materials that meet functional requirements and sustainability goals, considering factors such as durability, cost, and environmental impact.

Prepare technical drawings and specifications for design intent release to vendors and project teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Packaging Design, Product Design, or a related field.

Possess solid understanding of end-to-end manufacturing methods for personal care and consumer packaged goods; bottles, closures, cartons, conversion (filling), retail and e-commerce distribution and design for recyclability

At least 5 years of proven experience as a packaging designer, demonstrated through a strong portfolio of innovative and functional user experiences.

Fluency in SolidWorks and or other similar parametric surface modelling software - Proficiency in Keyshot and Adobe Creative Suite - Experience developing concepts for user research - Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. - Familiarity with 3D printing technologies like FDM and SLA 5-7 Consumer

Collaboration: Build strong relationships across disciplines, including Packaging and Sourcing to ensure user experience criteria is met while refining for feasibility and cross disciplinary alignment.

Communication: strong communication skills, capable of presenting ideas and concepts clearly to stakeholders.

Nice to Have/Bonus Skills

Experience working with consumer brands, particularly in industries such as electronics, cosmetics, or consumer goods, with a preference for experience at companies like L'Oréal or Estee Lauder, Unilever, Procter & Gamble.
