Purpose and Scope:

The primary purpose of the position is to support the daily operations of the recently established Histology laboratory at Astellas' South San Francisco site.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Performs processing, embedding, sectioning of human and small animal tissue for paraffin and frozen samples.

• Performs chromogenic, immunofluorescent and H&E staining on slides (manual, Leica BondRx, HistoCore Spectra).

• Development of chromogenic single and multiple stains for both manual and autostainer.

• Maintain equipment service contracts and schedules and reagent/ancillary inventory.

• Conducts quality control procedures and maintenance detailed records.

Qualifications Required:

BS in Biology, Immunology with 3+ years experience or Master's Degree, Biology, Immunology or related fields with 2+yrs experience in histology techniques, including trimming, processing, embedding, microtomy/cryotomy, special staining and IHC (manual and automatic).

Preferred:

• Experience with Olympus VS200 and HALO imaging quantification software is a plus.

• Experience with Leica Pegasus and Histocore Arcadia is preferred.

Working Environment:

• This position is based in South San Francisco, CA, USA and will require on-site work.

Salary Range : $74,300 -$99,000 (NOTE: Final salary could be more or less, based on experience)
