    Job Description

    AECOM is looking for a Hydrogeologist to join its team in Markham, ON. This is a Full-time role.

    The ideal candidate will report directly to the Hydrogeology Operations Manager, and will work collaboratively with other members of the Ontario and Canadian Geosciences (Hydrogeology & Geotechnical Engineering) and Remediation Teams, external sub-contractors / consultants, clients, as well as professionals within other internal AECOM business lines.

    Major responsibilities include

    • Contribute to the preparation of external proposals for direct client assignments and the Hydrogeology

    • Performs standard scientific work requiring application of techniques and procedures.

    • Detects problems when using standardized procedures because of the condition of sample, difficulties with the equipment, etc.

    • Conducts specific phases of projects for more experienced scientists.

    • Proposes appropriate analytical methods and techniques. Assists in providing advice and consulting services within scope of scientific knowledge.

    • Draws conclusions and makes recommendations based on analysis.

    • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.

    • Support duties in quality control, planning, cost estimating and scheduling.

    • Manage/co-ordinate projects and undertake technical work in accordance with contract scope of work and budget, and to company, professional, quality, and legislative standards.

    • Plan and lead field investigation programs, directing the collection and analysis of field data.

    • Support the implementation of subcontracts and purchase orders for collaboration with subconsultants/contractors, manage subs throughout the project lifecycle.

    • Liaise with regulatory authorities, landowners, and other third parties.

    • Interpret regulations and manage permitting with provincial and municipal bodies.

    • Conduct and analyze aquifer tests, water quality analysis, single well response tests, and other hydrologic analyses.

    • Work with colleagues to conceptualize, build, calibrate, and utilize groundwater flow models using industry accepted software (Visual MODFLOW, FEFLOW, Leapfrog) is an asset.

    • Prepare technical reports including potentiometric surface/water table maps, geologic and hydrogeological cross-sections, hydrogeologic model simulations, dewatering assessments, and impact assessments.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • ~~~. in Geology, Hydrogeology, Engineering Geology, or related disciplines.

    • 2+ years of Hydrogeology work experience.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • ~~~. in Geology, Hydrogeology, Engineering Geology, or related disciplines.

    • 4+ years of Hydrogeology work experience.

    • Technical proficiency in physical hydrogeology, geochemistry and report writing.

    • Experience with groundwater resources, hydrogeological assessments, MECP Permit to Take Water/EASR, construction dewatering, groundwater monitoring and/or groundwater modeling.

    • Consulting experience and knowledge of provincial and federal acts and policies.

    • Experience on High and Medium Complexity MTO or MTQ Hydrogeology projects considered an asset.

    • Strong data visualization and presentation skills.

    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

    • Ability to speak both French and English an asset.

    • Professional Geoscience work experience in the Province of Quebec an asset.

    Additional Information

    Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $65,000.00 - $85,000.00.
