HVAC Maintenance Mechanic

Overview:

Established by the Sisters of the St. Francis in 1924 CHI Health Good Samaritan is a 268-bed regional referral center in Kearney Neb. At CHI Health Good Samaritan you’ll find an advanced level trauma center that also offers AirCare emergency helicopter transport and an ambulance program providing long distance and local 911 service. Among our many other services are cardiac care including open-heart surgery a level II neonatal intensive care unit a nationally accredited cancer center comprehensive neurosurgery advanced orthopedic program and inpatient and outpatient mental health services at our free-standing Richard Young Behavioral Health facility.

Our full range of medical services includes trauma services heart and vascular care emergency services surgery maternity cancer care and diagnostic imaging.

Responsibilities:

1. Performs repairs on all types HVAC system equipment and controls.
2. Develops and monitors the effectiveness and performs preventive maintenance on all HVAC

systems and controls.

1. Performs repairs on refrigeration equipment in accordance with EPA regulations.
2. Performs, develops and monitors the effectiveness of preventive maintenance on

refrigeration equipment.

1. Performs repairs and preventive maintenance on other equipment and systems such as

Medical Gas and Vacuum systems, fire detection and alarm systems, Energy Plant
equipment and systems, and other facilities equipment and systems.

1. Locates and purchases repair parts, maintain inventory consistent with budget and priority

of equipment maintained consistent with the appropriate management approvals and policies.

1. Completes special projects such as installation, relocation or removal of equipment.
2. Cross trains other staff members in area of expertise.
3. Counsels or trains equipment users on proper operation and hazards of systems and

equipment.

1. Documents work orders in the equipment management information system data base.
2. Maintains an accurate inventory of equipment and systems components that are included

in the Utility Management Program.

1. Prepares reports as required by Leadership using information system data.
2. Coordinates repair of equipment and systems performed by outside contractors and

documents work completed in facility management information system data base.

1. Coordinates repairs and other service work with customer’s schedule. Responds quickly

to requests of departments utilizing our services and provides timely status reports about
condition of equipment being serviced.

1. Participates in continuing educational and development programs to improve knowledge,

maintain competency, and improve productivity.

1. Maintains positive working relationships with customers and other staff members.
2. Participates in section, departmental and cross functional mission, quality improvement

and productivity improvement projects and programs.

1. Participates in other duties as assigned.
2. Operates Facility Energy Management System (BAS).
3. Participates in all safety, security and infection control programs that are mandatory as

well as those required and provided by the department

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

• A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in repair and maintenance of HVAC equipment and systems is preferred.

• High School graduate or equivalent. 

• Ability to properly troubleshoot electrical control circuits, Automation system repair knowledge preferred, must be able to effectively work with pneumatic controlled equipment.

• Must have the versatility to fill other related positons, as applicable.

• Valid Driver's License.
