  • What You Will Do

    The Human Reliability Case Manager is responsible for providing administrative and case management services for the medical component of the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) Human Reliability Program (HRP). The HRP encompasses multiple divisions and disciplines throughout LANL and the DOE complex, with a focus on maintaining safety and security within our country's mission essential work. It is the responsibility of the Case Manager to manage all aspects of our team's assessment of these employees. This includes tracking employee progress through all four components of the medical assessment process, coordination of both medical and psychological assessment appointments, and auditing employee charts to assure compliance and completion. This role also requires strong communication and other interpersonal skills to support a diverse population of LANL employees, to include employees engaged in the program, LANL management, and multiple internal and external stakeholders. The Case Manager is an essential part of both the LANL HRP team and the Occupational Medicine Behavioral Health team at LANL, so candidates for this position must have the ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism.

    What You Need

    Minimum Job Requirements:

    • Experience with use of Electronic Health Records for maintenance of employee/patient records.

    • Experience with use of computer applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

    • Strong oral and written skills, including proofreading, grammar, spelling, punctuation, accuracy, and attention to detail.

    • Ability to effectively work in a team environment and interact with all levels of internal and external personnel.

    • Ability to organize and follow-through to completion on multiple tasks, often under strict deadlines, frequent interruptions, and changing priorities.

    • Demonstrated ability to initiate case management principles and interventions.

    • Displays a strong understanding of, and commitment to, confidentiality and maintenance of client privacy.

    Education/Experience: Position requires an Associate's Degree and 5 years of related experience in Occupational Health/Workers' Compensation Case Management; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, some undergraduate or graduate course work may be expected.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Understanding of the Laboratory's organizational structure and administrative policies, practices, and procedures.

    • Understanding of governmental regulations underlying the Human Reliability Program, as they relate to the HRP Case Manager role.

    Work Environment:

    Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

    Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

    Additional Details

    Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2.     No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.

    New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

    Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
