    The Department of Chemistry has an outstanding opportunity for a HR Operations Assistant (Senior).

    The HR Operations Assistant (Senior) is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Department of Chemistry HR/Personnel team and enhancing the employee experience within a mission-driven and dynamic workforce. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, independent judgment, and an interest in making the Chemistry Department a great place to work with an eye to compliance, employee experience, and the equitable application of policy. The HR Operations Assistant (Senior) reports to the Director of Personnel.     Duties and Responsibilities * Coordinate logistical aspects of onboarding, offboarding, and other points in the employee lifecycle for staff, academic HR, contract positions and student employees. * Support academic HR processes (including hire, appointment, reappointment, merit, promotions, summer support, hiatus, leaves, sabbatical, compensation changes) by drafting letters, forms and emails, compiling supporting documentation, and initiating business processes, changes and revisions in Workday. * Manage VISIT and VISER appointments through entire life-cycle. Generate supporting documents, submit to AST/ISO, keep process on track, communicate updates/progress with student, faculty and UW and external collaborators. * Assist with staff, contract employees and student hires supporting documentation and Workday processes. * Generate, review and analyze Workday reports, and independently correct any misaligned content to maintain an error free Workday HR and AHR record. * Maintain confidential employee records in Workday, CAS/EDMS, UW systems and Chemistry employee files. * Develop and maintain HR and AHR forms, manuals, and other materials. * Draft, edit and maintain personnel team website content including onboarding, offboarding, hiring (visa sponsorship, procedures, timelines and policies). * Manage holiday tracking in Workday for all personnel and serve as point of contact for timekeeping and absences requests, monitor timely completion of requests. * Assist with the coordination of staff and faculty recruitment activities including posting, advertising, scheduling interviews, and corresponding with candidates. * Conduct screening interviews for staff positions. * Respond to employee questions and concerns related to HR systems and policies, escalating as needed. * Complete I-9 verifications, background checks, security role requests/changes, employment verifications, and process HR/AHR related reimbursements as needed. * Assist with Key Connect, room reservations, and general front office support as needed. * Support personnel team with projects as needed. * Other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications * Three years of office/clerical experience OR equivalent education/experience.

    Desired Qualifications:
    * Human resource experience and/or experience in an academic setting. * Attention to detail and ability to follow and improve processes. * Excellent written and oral communication skills. * Ability to work with a variety of constituents including staff, faculty, students, and candidates. * Ability to learn HR systems. * Ability to effectively use office software suites and manage digital workload in a paperless environment.

    Conditions of Employment: This is an on-campus in-person position.
