    • Drive actions to ensure the plant achieves its Safety, Quality, Delivery & Productivity Goals.

    • Provide regular updates to manager on progress and status of projects; Submits alternative solutions on problems and areas of concerns.

    • Provide technical leadership to heat treatment.

    • Work collaboratively with other functions in the organization to achieve objectives.

    • Access, Maintain and Manage part recipes, traceability and PMS on applicable software or on GKN intranet.

    • Be responsive, flexible and dedicated to support production needs and priorities of the facility.

    • Ability to read prints and understand metallurgical specifications.

    • Develop processes to manufacture product to engineering drawings

    • Develop and manage tooling to manufacture product to engineering drawings.

    • Maintain, improve knowledge of or demonstrate ability to learn and apply metallurgical testing techniques.

    • Lead investigations into metallurgy lab failures, lead process deviations including implementation of corrective actions. Manage lessons learnt (LL), CER read across/ deployment

    • Identify and act on opportunities to improve quality, efficiency and reduce cost

    • Provide Hands on support in troubleshooting, repairing, managing equipment in the heat treatment department (includes continuous/pusher, batch, temper furnaces, shot blast, endo gas generators, washers, etc)

    • Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance program.

    • Lead planning, recovery and execution of planned /unplanned equipment breakdown

    • Work with subcontractors for manufacture, repair, or projects.

    • Maintain systems to support TS-16949, AMS 2750-D, AIAG CQI-9, etc.

    • Knowledge of or the ability to learn safety code relating to carburizing processes.

    • Have or commit to achieving AIAG-CQI-9 minimum requirement (Section 1, item 1.1): The qualifications shall include a minimum of 5 years' experience in heat treat operations or a combination of 5 years of formal metallurgical education and heat treat experience.

    • Complete ASM Correspondence course entitled "Elements of Metallurgy" or equivalent.

    • Ensure compliance with GKN DES requirements, lead self-audit/ internal and external audits for responsible areas of manufacturing

    • Identify training opportunities, prepare training documentation and provide training to personnel

    • Perform any other duties as specified by Engineering Manager Utilize LEAN tools such as Standardized Work, 5S, Visual Management as well as leading Kaizen projects and documenting results to support continuous improvement projects

    • Be responsible for promoting & steering personal career development through the Performance Management Process

    • Perform any other duties as assigned
