    The Y is seeking a Gymnastics Team Coach to work in their busy Gymnastics Center. In this role you will provide professional quality coaching to all levels of the gymnastics team in a safe, culturally aware and positive environment, while maintaining effective communication between team parents, coaches and instructors, with advocacy for diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI).     Essential Functions

    • Lead energizing, fun, culturally aware, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish YMCA mission and goals.
    • Provide direct supervision and instruction to gymnastics participants in accordance with the YMCA best practices and policies.
    • Assist with planning and setting up lesson plans and structure of classes
    • Develop positive relationships with participants and provide motivational support and guidance.
    • Cultivate a strong working relationship with YMCA members, staff, participants, and families.
    • Set-up and maintain class equipment and configuration, and be accountable for housekeeping in the gymnastics area, bleachers, cubbies and program closet.
    • Convey information to program participants as needed, such as program information, annual campaign details, and requests for survey participation.
    • Project a positive, enthusiastic, and professional image on the job at all times.
    • Be punctual and dependable!

    Requirements:

    1. Must have a working knowledge in the USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic Compulsory routines.
    2. Must be at least 18 years of age (17 to work as a Coach's Assistant)
    3. Must have 1-2 years of previous gymnastics or related coaching or teaching experience.
    4. Must have 1-2 years of previous experience working with children ages 1-12.
    5. Must have a fundamental knowledge of gymnastics skills and the ability to demonstrate them.
    6. Willingness to learn additional areas in the gymnastics department.
    7. Demonstrated ability to teach the development of skills and proper techniques in the area of specialty.
    8. Must have knowledge of proper spotting techniques.
    9. Ability to lift equipment and spot children.
    10. Ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with class participants, superiors, and co-workers.
    11. Must be able to implement oral and written instructions.
    12. Exercises mature judgment and sound decision making.
    13. Requires current CPR, and First Aid certification (YMCA will assist with acquiring the required certifications when needed)
    14. USA Gymnastics Professional membership is a plus but not required.
