Groundskeeper

Job Requirements

The Utility/Grounds Worker will be responsible for completion of all event setups and breakdown according to scheduled events, Complete work orders as assigned and returned for completion. Complete assigned project work ie: shampoo carpets, strip floors, burnish floors, window washing etc., could also be assigned duties on the Residence Campus as needed during the summer months. Could also need to fill in at Daly Field as needed.

Reports to: Account Manager, Assistant Account Manger

Dept/Location: Simmons University - Boston, MA

Job classification: Full-time, hourly, non-exempt

• Snow removal is a mandatory aspect of this job.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in the placement and set-up of tables, chairs, club tables, cocktail tables, and any other furniture utilized by the University to meet the needs of its various clients and departments.

• Ability and working knowledge of floor equipment; burnishing machines, floor scrubbers, extractor machines, wet/dry vacuums, etc. is preferred but not necessary.

• Properly clean and buff tile floor services as needed.

• Maintain an ongoing rotation building by building of detailed project work

• Working knowledge of proper floor chemicals used in the process of flooring projects.

• Stripping and waxing as well as carpet extraction occurs occasionally throughout the year.

• During the winter months, this position will be responsible for snow removal and is considered a mandatory part of this position.

• Follow all safety and personnel rules and regulations.

Requirements:

• Must be able to follow oral and written instructions in English.

• Minimum of 2-5 years' experience in Janitorial work

• Janitorial experience in a Higher Education account a plus

• Must hold and maintain a valid driver's license per job requirements

• 1-3 years' working experience in floor care.

• 1-3 years working knowledge with custodial chemicals

• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

• Ability to work effectively with a team.

• Ability to work independently as needed to support the group effort.

• Must be able to perform all physical aspects of the above job duties, including the ability to lift up to 50 lbs
