Grant Accountant

Description

Our client, a well-established and impactful non-profit organization based in San Diego, is committed to making a difference in the community. They are currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Grant Accountant to join their finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an accounting professional who is passionate about supporting a meaningful cause while applying their expertise in financial management.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the financial aspects of grant funding, ensuring accurate and timely accounting of grant expenditures and compliance with donor and regulatory requirements.

• Collaborate with program managers to develop and monitor grant budgets, ensuring that funds are allocated effectively, and expenses stay within budget.

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for grant-funded programs, including variance analysis and reconciliations.

• Ensure compliance with grant terms, conditions, and regulations, and assist in preparation for audits and reporting to funders.

• Maintain accurate records of all grant transactions, ensuring proper documentation and support for reporting purposes.

• Work closely with program managers, grant writers, and the finance team to ensure alignment between financial and programmatic goals.

• Identify and recommend improvements to financial processes related to grant management and reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.

• 3+ years of experience in accounting, with at least 1-2 years specifically focused on grant accounting or fund accounting in a non-profit environment.

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and experience with grant-related financial regulations.

• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.

• Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
