General Counsel

Description We are in search of a General Counsel to join our team in Novi, Michigan. The successful candidate will be part of an industry-leading team in the automotive sector. The role will require a combination of skills in Automotive Engineering, Automotive Industry, and Automotive Service.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal advice and guidance to senior management on all organizational matters.

• Lead and manage all legal affairs related to the automotive industry, including compliance, litigation, and intellectual property.

• Liaise with relevant departments to ensure that legal risks have been identified, appropriate courses of action have been taken.

• Provide expert guidance in automotive engineering related legal matters.

• Develop company policies and positions on legal issues.

• Research, anticipate and guard the company against legal risks.

• Structure, draft and review reports and other legal documents.

• Represent the company in legal proceedings.

• Negotiate deals on behalf of the company. Requirements - Must have a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

• Must be a member in good standing of the bar in at least one jurisdiction

• Must have significant legal experience, preferably as a practicing lawyer in a law firm or in-house legal department

• Must demonstrate deep knowledge of corporate law, securities law, and corporate governance principles

• Must have a strong background in negotiating and drafting complex commercial contracts

• Proven experience in managing a team of legal professionals

• Must have strong interpersonal and presentation skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels within the organization

• Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Must have knowledge or experience in automotive engineering, automotive industry, and automotive service

• Must have the ability to establish and maintain strong relationships within the organization's legal department and across all businesses

• Must have the ability to work independently with little or no supervision

• Must have a high level of professional ethics and integrity

• Strong skills in prioritizing and managing multiple tasks simultaneously

• Must be able to adapt to changing priorities and business needs and be proactive in identifying areas of need and generating action plans

• Must have a strong focus on customer service.
