  • Summary of Position (Job Purpose) - Major purpose and functions of the position.

    • Supervise day-to-day Garnishment functions.

    • Supervise hiring and training of Garnishment & Support associates.

    • Supervise the accurate and timely payment of Involuntary Wage Assignments such as Child Support, Tax Levies and Court Ordered Garnishments for both US and Canada.

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities - Primary responsibilities listed in order of importance

    • Supervise the Garnishment team, including selecting, training, auditing of work, and coaching to ensure compliance of payroll laws, Dollar Tree policies, procedures, and controls.

    • Supervises Payroll Support Associates, ensuring timely and accurate processing and coding of all Payroll Department inbound mail, timely and accurate scanning of all garnishment documentation and files, and payroll processing bundles.

    • Set team goals, write, and deliver annual performance appraisals.

    • Supervise the implementation of Garnishment process or technology improvements.

    • Oversees the accurate entry of withholding orders for Levies, Garnishments, Child Support and all other involuntary wage assignment orders within the regulated time period.

    • Reconciles payroll deductions to various reports to ensure accuracy of deductions.

    • Demonstrate leadership ability, collaborate effectively with team members, business partners, outside agencies and legal team to proactively resolve issues regarding withholding orders.

    • Establishes and maintains complete files pertaining to all notices of withholding for all employees.

    • Process refunds of involuntary wage assignments.

    • Supervises the timely completion and submission of answers, terminations notices and other reporting required for involuntary wage assignments.

    • Review, resolve, and provide documentation for payroll garnishment general ledger accounts.

    • Maintains current knowledge of laws and regulations regarding involuntary wage assignments.

    • Manages ExpertPay and inbound and outbound interfaces for eIWO.

    • Ensures all team email boxes are responded to in a timely fashion.

    • Provide analysis and reporting to management for monthly Metrics reporting.

    • Maintain security of all payroll transactions and confidentiality of all payroll matters.

    • Serves as a back-up for exporting timekeeping in Compass, DT Kronos and FD Kronos.

    • Special payroll projects as assigned by manager or Payroll Director.

    • Other duties as required by management.

    Minimum Requirements/Qualifications - Summary of knowledge, experience and education required.

    • Ability to work in a high-volume processing environment.

    • Legal knowledge regarding multiple withholding orders.

    • Ability to compute disposable income and interpret legal withholding orders.

    • Strong organizational and leadership skills.

    • 1-3 years of garnishment processing experience.

    • Multi-state involuntary wage assignment experience.

    • Excellent customer service skills.

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    • Knowledge of software includes Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook, and comfort with software applications on a PC.

    • Ability to handle confidential information discreetly.

    Desired Qualifications - Desired but not required.

    • Prior Supervisor experience desired.

    • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or FPC (Fundamental of Payroll Certification) preferred.

    • Lawson and Workday application payroll experience a plus, including query or showcase.
