Job Title: Forklift Operator

Job Description

This individual will be responsible for off-loading and on-loading all goods from the container using a propane SDCB forklift. The operator will be on the forklift about 80% of the shift and will need to operate quickly but also safely around tight quarters. The product is freight, which varies on each trailer and can be very heavy and differently shaped. Experience working with freight is necessary. Responsibilities include using paper shipping documents to ensure the product is being loaded/unloaded correctly and transitioning to complex digital shipping software within the next few months. The facility is open but requires maneuvering in tight corners. The operator must be able to move small to large shipments.

Work Environment

Fast-paced environment with a 24-hour operation depending on truck arrival and departure. Busy with incoming and outgoing trucks and drivers, forklifts moving at a safe but fast pace. The product is staged on the dock with more than 50 doors. The team size is approximately 50 operators working per shift. The dress code includes steel toes (bring your own or use one on-site). Shift options are Sunday to Thursday, 11 PM to 7 AM. Pay is $24.75 plus a $1 premium for the graveyard shift.

Hard Skills

• 1-year minimum experience operating an SDCB Forklift in an LTL environment

• Valid forklift ticket

• Good computer skills

• Ability to lift 50 pounds (can be repetitive)

Soft Skills

• Great attitude

• Ability to hit the ground running

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Surrey, British Columbia.
