Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Forklift Operator to join our team. The employee will be working on a Cross-Dock, spending approximately 50% of the time operating a Sit-down Counterbalance Forklift and the remaining 50% hand bombing freight. Responsibilities include reading printed manifests to strip and load trailers, and handling a variety of products ranging from small food items to large, fragile spools of cable. An understanding of LTL practices and the ability to operate a forklift without damaging freight or trucks is essential.

Shift

Monday-Friday 11:30am-8:00/9:00pm (depending on volumes.)

Responsibilities

• Operate a Sit-down Counterbalance Forklift (propane or electric) approximately 50% of the time.

• Hand bomb freight for the remaining 50% of the time.

• Read printed manifests to strip and load trailers.

• Handle a variety of products, from smaller food items to large fragile spools of cable.

• Ensure proper LTL practices to prevent damage to freight or trucks.

• Communicate effectively with team members and drivers.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 1 year of Sitdown Forklift Experience.

• Experience with material handling and cross-docking.

• Proficient in using RF scanners.

• Minimum 1-2 years of LTL (Less than Truckload) / Cross-Dock Experience.

• Good reading and writing skills to read BOLs and Transcripts.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 3rd Party Forklift Certification.

• Ability to lift heavy objects.

• Successful completion of pre-employment

• Access to a car (nearest transit station is a 1 km walk).

Work Environment

This position is located in the Northwest Industrial Park region of Edmonton, within a transportation freight company. The facility can see 10-20 trailers pass through per shift and handles a wide variety of products, including food items and fragile spools of cable. The role requires attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. It is transit accessible, with a 1 km walk from the nearest bus stop, making access to a car ideal.

This is a Contract position based out of Edmonton, Alberta.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00
