Job Description

Join our dynamic team as a Forklift Operator at our LTL Freight Cross Dock in Calgary. In this role, you will operate a Sit Down Counter Balance forklift and assist with moving pallets. You will spend approximately 60% of your day unloading and loading trailers with freight using the forklift and the remaining 40% hand bombing/moving product by hand, with a maximum weight of 50lbs. Responsibilities include handling bills of lading and other paperwork, assisting team members with unloading paperwork, and ensuring the dock remains clean and clear of debris for safety. You will work in a very fast-paced environment, adapting to various tasks throughout your shift.

Hard Skills

• 1 year of forklift experience on a sit down counter balance forklift

• Experience with transportation, warehouse, or distribution companies, particularly 3PL or LTL

• 1 year of experience loading and unloading trailers using a forklift

• Valid forklift ticket (in-house or private; if expired or missing, training can be provided)

Soft Skills

• Ability to lift up to 50lbs throughout a shift

• Adaptable to fast-paced environments

• Ability to switch tasks with ease

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Calgary, Alberta.

Work Environment

You will work in a very fast-paced environment handling courier shipments. Trucks come in with pallets of shipments for retail stores from distributors. These shipments are then unloaded and packed for retail. The work space is small while moving in and out of the docks. You will be part of a team of 7-10 people, reporting to the supervisor. The team size on the floor across all shifts is 20-25 people, including dockworkers and forklift operators. The role involves various duties including paperwork, swamping, and operating the forklift, requiring adaptability to switch between tasks seamlessly. The dock can get very cold, so appropriate outdoor wear is necessary. The shift runs Monday to Friday from 14:00 to 22:30, with a pay rate of $24.75 per hour.
