Job Title: Forklift Operator

Job Description

• Workers meet in the morning for a brief tool box meeting to discuss workload and plan the day's tasks.

• The worker will be performing various Warehouse/Shipping duties to support the manufacturing of goods in production and processing goods into Inventory for Order Picking and Shipping.

• Materials and goods are heavy and can weigh up to approximately 8,000 lbs. Responsibilities include material handling (forklift) and packaging (hand tools, palletizing, steel strapping, and wood bracing) for Inventory and shipping. Operating a forklift (approximately 6 hours of the day). Picking and staging materials and parts for production or Load Planning for Shipping.

• Packaging products, building crates, wrapping/strapping, and securing products. Loading/Unloading 3rd party transport vehicles using a propane or electric Class 1 or 4 sit down counterbalance Forklift or pallet jack (2-3 hours a day).

• This position involves a 50/50 mix of Indoor/Outdoor work as required for live Load or Unload of transport trailers. Periodic lifting requirement a few times a day at 50 lbs. or less.

Work Environment

Our client is a large heavy industrial manufacturing company that just moved into a brand new building. A lot of the employees are long-tenured and it is a family-oriented department. There is a strong safety culture and everyone gets along very well. This is a very clean facility. The warehouse team consists of 8-10 people. They have 4 bays going at once, with a lot of forklift traffic. Around 6 forklifts moving at one time. They could have 4 flatbeds and 6 containers being loaded at one time. It is a very fast-paced environment, requiring high alertness.

The work environment is loud and noisy with a paint smell around the paint booth. The warehouse is bright and enclosed. The shift AM Shift 6:45 AM - 3 PM. Breaks include 1x 15 min and 1x 30 min at lunch. The wage is $23/hour.

Hard Skills

• 3+ months warehouse or industrial shop experience

• 2 years forklift experience on a sit-down counterbalance (heavy items)

• Computer skills to enter information in the system

• Steel toe work boots

Soft Skills

• Attitude & culture fit more important than skills

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Agassiz, British Columbia.
