Job Summary
The Division of Extension and Engagement is seeking a Land Stewards and Natural Resources Education Coordinator for the Extension Forestry and Natural Resources Program in Jackson County. This is a part-time (0.50 FTE ), 12-month, professional faculty position.
This Outreach Program Coordinator is a team member of the Division of Extension and Engagement's (division) Extension Forestry and Natural Resources Program. This Land Stewards and Natural Resources Education Coordinator position is based at the OSU Southern Oregon Research and Extension Center ( SOREC ) in Jackson County, Oregon. This position is a part-time (0.50 FTE ), 12-month, professional faculty position. This FTE may increase with the addition of non-recurring funds.
This Land Stewards and Natural Resources Education Coordinator works as a member of the Extension Jackson County's Forestry and Natural Resources team on the development, delivery, coordination, recordkeeping and reporting of the Land Stewards and other natural resource-related education programs. This position will work with people who have various backgrounds, communication styles and expectations.
This Land Stewards and Natural Resources Education Coordinator is responsible for designing, developing, maintaining and/or carrying out educational programming and outreach activities to serve broad and diverse populations in an accessible, inclusive, equitable, and socially just manner. This includes complying with Civil Rights and Language/Visual Access regulations.
The division has built the capacity and expectation for employees to use digital communications and technologies in the modern-day workplace. Jackson County is one of 36 counties in Oregon and is named for Andrew Jackson, the seventh president of the United States. The Southern Oregon Research & Extension Center ( SOREC ) was formed in 1994 when the "Southern Oregon Experiment Station" was combined with the "Jackson County Extension Service". The faculty, staff, and trained volunteers of the OSU Extension Service in Jackson County work alongside local partners to provide educational workshops, activities, and services tailored to the unique industries, natural resources, and people in the Jackson County communities. About Extension Forestry and Natural Resources Program ( FNR ):
Forestry and Natural Resources ( FNR ) is one of ten OSU Extension programs. FNR focuses on promoting stewardship of Oregon's natural resources through education, engagement, and community-based learning. This is accomplished by faculty, volunteers, program coordinators, and support staff, who organize and conduct educational experiences tailored to meet audience needs. OSU Research Forests, managed by the College of Forestry, are comprised of nine research, teaching, and demonstration forests located throughout Oregon. The 160-acre Collins Forest, located near Gold Hill in Jackson County, provide unique natural resource demonstration opportunities for nearby Extension faculty.

What You Will Need
Bachelor's degree in any field AND two years of natural resources or agriculture experience; OR Bachelor's degree in one of the following disciplines: natural resources, agriculture, or education. The degree must be completed by the start date of the position.
Demonstrated teaching experience and experience with planning, organizing, and delivering educational programs.
Ability to communicate successfully with a broad and diverse audience.
Demonstrated skill in working with broad and diverse audiences, including volunteers.
General knowledge and ability to use computers, including proficiency with information technology, professional office software and collaborative work platforms.
Ability to learn and adapt to using multiple forms of digital communication systems, including websites, email newsletters, social media, and other tools in a changing technological environment.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to lead groups and to plan, organize, evaluate, manage, and delegate details associated with program management.
Ability to work as a team member with other professionals and volunteers.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
What We Would Like You to Have
Demonstrated expertise in land management topics such as fire risk mitigation, noxious weed management, wildlife enhancement, water conservation, small farm, and forest management.
Experience managing volunteers.
Experience developing educational programs and curricula for adults.
Experience in using technology as a tool in educational program delivery.
Experience with program advisory groups.
Experience working with the Extension Service or delivering non-traditional education.
Experience in securing external funding support.
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
Flexibility to perform work in a variety of settings and on evenings and weekends.
Travel/driving is required to perform the responsibilities of this position throughout Jackson County.
