    Mesa Verde National Park is the archaeological wonder of Colorado. Famous for the elaborate sandstone cliff dwellings built by the Ancestral Puebloans, the park protects over 5,000 sites & over 600 dwellings that date back more than 1,400 years ago.     The Fleet Mechanic at Mesa Verde National Park will be responsible for overseeing the general maintenance of all fleet vehicles, ensuring their safe and efficient operation. Key duties include performing tire changes and rotations, patch repairs, oil changes, oil filter replacements, and other routine vehicle maintenance tasks. The Fleet Mechanic will work closely with the Transportation Supervisor to maintain a reliable fleet, ensuring that all vehicles are well-maintained and ready for use across the park. In addition to hands-on maintenance, the mechanic will learn and utilize a program to track and update maintenance activities on vehicles, requiring computer skills to efficiently log and monitor completed work. This position requires strong mechanical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage maintenance records for optimal performance and safety of all fleet vehicles.

    COMPENSATION : The hourly rate for this position ranges from $20.00 to $20.00, depending on circumstances including an applicant?s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, prior job experience, market data, and other relevant factors. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). This is Aramark?s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of compensation for this position as of the time of posting.

    If hired, employee will be in an ?at-will position? and Aramark reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time AND FOR ANY REASON, including, BUT NOT LIMITED TO for reasons related to individual performance, Aramark or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Perform routine vehicle maintenance: Conduct regular tire changes and rotations, patch repairs, oil changes, oil filter replacements, and other standard maintenance tasks to ensure fleet vehicles are safe and operational.

    • Monitor vehicle performance: Inspect and assess the condition of fleet vehicles, identifying and addressing any mechanical issues or maintenance needs before they become major problems.

    • Track maintenance activities: Learn and utilize a computerized maintenance management system to accurately log, track, and update maintenance completed on fleet vehicles, ensuring that records are consistently maintained and easily accessible.

    • Ensure vehicle safety and reliability: Ensure all maintenance tasks meet safety and operational standards, keeping vehicles in top condition and ready for use across the park.

    • Report to work in uniform: Adhere to dress code and wear appropriate work attire, including safety gear, while performing duties on the job.

    • Follow safety protocols: Practice and uphold all company safety standards, including the use of protective equipment, safe lifting practices, and proper handling of tools and hazardous materials, to maintain a safe work environment.

    • Report emergencies or unsafe conditions: Immediately report any vehicle emergencies, safety hazards, or issues that require urgent attention to the Transportation Supervisor to ensure timely resolution.

    • Maintain cleanliness of work area: Keep the mechanic's workspace clean, organized, and free of hazards, ensuring efficient and safe work practices.

    • Collaborate with the Transportation Supervisor: Communicate regularly with the Transportation Supervisor to prioritize maintenance tasks, discuss vehicle status, and ensure fleet needs are being met in a timely manner.

    • Assist with vehicle repairs: In addition to routine maintenance, perform minor repairs on fleet vehicles as needed, diagnosing issues and replacing defective parts as required.

    • Adhere to park regulations: Comply with all Mesa Verde National Park rules and regulations, including environmental and operational guidelines, while performing fleet maintenance duties.

    • Maintain tool and equipment inventory: Ensure all tools and equipment are in good working condition, and report any missing or damaged tools to the supervisor for replacement.

    • Other duties as assigned.

    The Fleet Mechanic will report directly to the Transportation Supervisor and collaborate closely with other maintenance staff to ensure the proper functioning of all fleet vehicles at Mesa Verde National Park. Special skills and abilities required for this position include a strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in vehicle maintenance and repair, including tire changes, oil changes, and general troubleshooting. The position also requires proficiency in using computer software to track and update maintenance records, along with basic computer skills for data entry and reporting. The Fleet Mechanic must be able to work independently, demonstrate attention to detail, and follow safety protocols at all times to ensure a safe and efficient work environment. Strong communication skills are essential for reporting maintenance status and any issues to the Transportation Supervisor, while a proactive attitude towards maintaining the fleet is key.

    Qualifications

    • Certification in automotive repair or related field (e.g., ASE certification).

    • Experience with maintaining and repairing a variety of fleet vehicles, including trucks, vans, and specialized equipment.

    • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for tracking and updating vehicle maintenance records.

    • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues in vehicles efficiently and accurately helps

    • Experience with environmental regulations and waste disposal related to vehicle maintenance (e.g., proper oil disposal, tire recycling).

    • Strong organizational skills to manage and prioritize multiple maintenance tasks.

    • Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, with the ability to lift and move heavy objects when necessary.

    • Excellent time management and problem-solving skills to complete tasks efficiently with minimal supervision.
