    ESG Operations, an Inframark Company, is hiring a Fleet Maintenance Mechanic to join our team working on Fort Moore. This position is responsible for vehicle maintenance and repair, completing work orders, providing emergency roadside service, and welding and burning. We will ask you to perform maintenance and repairs on vehicles and equipment, including tractors, mowers, vacuum trucks, and street sweepers. Welding experience or certification is required.

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Perform diagnostics and make necessary repairs on vehicles and equipment, such as removing and repairing engines, transmissions or differentials; repairing brake systems; or replacing or repairing airconditioning and heating units.

    • Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles such as changing oil and filter, spark plugs, or brake pads, or rotating tires.

    • Respond to emergency calls for roadside assistance for disabled vehicles.

    • Install, check, and repair electrical components.

    • Fabricate and replace hydraulic hoses; perform welding and burning.

    • Repair broken or cracked parts, and fill holes and increases size of metal parts using welding equipment.

    • Chip or grind off excess weld, slag or spatter using hand scraper or power chipper, portable grinder or arc-cutting equipment.

    • Test-drive vehicle to establish problem areas and to ensure proper functioning of vehicles upon completion of maintenance or repairs.

    • Fill-out work orders on completed repair or maintenance tasks, including work performed, time required to complete tasks, and parts used.

    • Participate in cleaning and maintenance of work area and shop equipment.

    Qualifications

    Requires five years of related experience. High School Diploma or GED and the equivalent of one year of college or specialized vocational training in automotive mechanics or a closely related field. Must have a valid state commercial driver's license and meet minimum driving standards.

    Knowledge of:

    • Requiring some responsibility for achieving minor economies and/or preventing minor losses through the handling of or accounting for materials or supplies.

    • Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; may compute ratios, rates, and percentages.

    • Requiring some responsibility for the actions of others, requiring almost constant decisions affecting co-workers, customers, or others in the general public; works in a moderately fluid environment with guidelines and rules, but frequent variations from the routine.

    • Making decisions with minor impact - affects only those in the immediate work area.

    Skill in:

    • Handling or using machines, tools, equipment, or work aids involving minor latitude for judgment regarding attainment of a standard or in selecting appropriate items.

    Ability to:

    • Collect, classify, and format data or information.

    • Provide assistance to people to achieve task completion; may instruct co-workers.

    • Read technical instructions, charts, and/or procedures manuals; complete job forms; speak compound sentences using standard grammar.

    • Perform skilled work involving rules/systems with almost constant problem solving; requires normal attention with short periods of concentration for accurate results and occasional exposure to unusual pressure.

    Working conditions

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to extreme heat and/or cold, wet or humid

    conditions, bright and/or dim light, dust or pollen, intense noise levels, vibration, fumes or noxious odors. All

    required safety standards shall be adhered to in order to mitigate risk from moving mechanical parts, electrical

    shock, heights, blood-borne pathogens, traffic, animals and wildlife, toxic or caustic chemicals, and other

    identified hazards.

    Physical requirements

    This position requires frequent standing, kneeling, bending and climbing. The employee must be able to use

    hands to operate and manipulate tools and equipment. This position requires very heavy physical exertion

    including the ability to lift over 50 pounds and exert over 100 pounds of force on a regular basis.

    The employee must be willing to work non-standard and overtime hours as required.

    The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, and depth perception
